You might want to add next time that there is a option for reserve which is called active guard reserve where you still can get full active benefits including the early gi bill

Just passed MEPS a week ago for the US Air Force Reserve. I haven't swear in yet, but I'm highly considering active duty. At 34, never married no kids with an associate's degree, I'm going in as an E-3. Also, I'm an NPS, non-prior service.

Correct me if i'm wrong here, but you can also join ROTC at university if you're in the Air Guard or Reserve, can't you? I know you can in the Army, Guard/Reserve, or at least they used to to. When I was Army ROTC in the 90s there were enlisted soldiers who were in the reserves who were also ROTC Cadets. ROTC is probably the best way to become an officer. And hey, once you're an officer, you can apply for a pilot slot and go to Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT). Then you can tell everyone that you ARE in the Air Force AND a pilot :)
