Plenty of people have died for a falsehood that they mistakenly believed was true.

But there has been nobody who died for something which they knew, without any doubt, was false.

The apostles died a martyr's death because they had seen the resurrected Jesus and had the faith that they would share in eternal life with Christ by dying for that truth

No one would stick to a lie knowing it would lead them to a painful death unless it were true. In the case of the apostles 11 men did just that. Jesus fulfilled 300 prophecies exactly do the math on the odds of that happening.

They would remember the main things yes, the important things that he did that helped people but they wouldn’t remember every day things like we don’t when you live your life every day you don’t remember all those little details do you? And they had to be careful to who they told you know that they could tell people in the street, but just like today if somebody’s talking on a soapbox some listen some don’t.

Brian sees all through rose coloured sunglasses. Catechism teaches occult communion with the dead totally against biblical teachings Deuteronomy 18:10-12

the apostles could themselves have also believed in a lie. people could have also lied about the apostles death.

It’s not necessary that they were lying. It’s just they told their version of it what they remember because they didn’t really have pen and paper right there did they? It took them a while to put that down in writing, they might not remember every detail, but the gist of it, and then there were the books written by others that weren’t included in the Bible. They only picked the ones that they thought were favorable.

To play devils advocate (don't read into that) What if they made up some stuff to enhance their standing in their fledgling but increasing community? That is a motive, isn't it? They became the "leaders" - those in the know and looked up to. There is value in that, no? I'm coming from a place of wanting to believe them, honestly. But to answer this question: what was in it for them (if they embellished or used "creative license" in telling the story)

there is money and power in religion. One of the apostles had a whole family came before him and they were to surrender all their wealth to join. They found the father kept one piece of land from the church so they not only killed him but his whole family, wife, kids elder family.
