Living British Pterosaurs?

Of all cryptids reported from the British Isles, supposed living Pterosaurs may be the most ridiculous. Promoted by Creationists as evidence for their religious world view, reports are rare and can be explained as cases of mistaken identity. The most likely culprits are buzzards, eagles and maybe even hang gliders.

Your channel is criminally under subbed and under viewed. Thanks for your delightful content.

Well I dont know about you, but interdimensional time-travelling pterosaurs seems like logical explanation. I mean, far more plausible than misidentification.

A remote controlled soaring model of a pterosaur or pterodactyl had been built in the United States some years back with a head crest that helped steer it.

Once I saw a pelican roaming around in hungary, It was huge as it fly pass me . It is searched food in a small stream, and I just walked across a bridge when it is shooted by in front of me... It is really should not be around here but it was there. Huge wing span, strange neck position when it is fly, and a huge beak. So there you go, a pterosaur.

I bet at least one sighting is a kite. I own a 12 foot wingspan flamingo. It even flaps it’s wings. I’m going to make a huge pterosaur kite and freak people out.

if you can't rely on the testimony of an unknown witness with no cell phone footage, who can you trust?

The first thing I thought of when I heard their descriptions was the Eurasian Vulture that was seen over the Yorkshire Dale's. It would roughly fit what they claim to have seen.

I swear if I had a penny for every time Johnatan Witcomb says something is a pterodactyl I would be a bloody millionaire already

Its very funny how whenever these sightings are made they look like clichéd 1970s dinosaurs rather than what they likely actually looked like. Very suspicious if you ask me.

Sounds like someone is playing around with RC flying wing ornithopters. Decades ago I was designing RC flying wings and thought a giant pterosaur would be pretty darn cool. Never did one but at least some people have.

For some reason I am reminded of the “Pterodactyl” animatronic glider in the classic movie “Wargames.”
I imagine creating similar such things has grown easier and more affordable as the decades have passed. Whether as hobby or outright prank, such an explanation might be valid for late 20th Century and more recent sightings. It would also fit with the outdated appearance perhaps.
Wargames released in 1983.

As a biologist specialised in bat conservation, I can only wonder how many of these sightings the common noctule is responsible for. It is a fast flying rather large bat with a 40 cm wingspan, and very narrow wings compared to most bats. Noctules also have a tendency to start flying before dusk, when it is still full daylight. They can be quite pterosaur-like when seen only quickly or from a distance, and you immediately get the "not a bird" impression when you see one flying..

There's YT video that was Test Flying an R/C Pterodactyl and it's the same one in the thumbnail .
And they use a very small electric motor, so that would have no effect on the Aerodynamics .

They were testing the flight mechanics of the Pterodactyls and other large birds all the way up to the Lengdary " Thunderbird's " of US Native Indians witch has a 20( +— ) ft wingspan .

I remember seeing something like that 27 years ago. I told one person, she laughed at me and so I never mentioned it ever again.

Ah Jonathan Whitcomb, anything he says about the subject can be immediately dismissed because of definitively non objective background. He's not just an evangelist, he's a more specifically a young earth creationist minister that's trying to find living pterosaurs to prove his own world view and discredit evolution and science. Trey the Explainer did a very good video on him and his search for the Ropen of Papua New Guinea.

Just a thought, but the cryptic "pterosaurs" of Great Britain could alternativley not be pterosaurs, but another kind of cryptic animal. People just call them "pterosaurs" for the sake of comparison. 🤷‍♂️

Of course, these sightings could just be misidentifications of known bird species in Great Britain that have been badly distorted to look like inaccurate pterosaurs.

Isn't is amazing that whenever someone sees one of these dinosaurs (or other ancient animals) alive what they see matches what the person who sees them expects them to look like rather than what they should actually look like. Like dinosaurs that drag their tails, sauropods that live in swamps, or pterosaurs with pointed bat-like wings and scales.

Pirmeval was a really creative and fun UK TV series, too short a run. There was a Primeval New World spinoff, but then nothing happened towards a third series or movie. (There was a movie of that name, but it wasn't the same team or show, it was something else entirely, horror genre..)

Jonathan Whitcomb, where am I heard of that guy before? Oh Trey the Explainer’s Ropen video. Yet another late surviving pterosaur, man what’s up with this guy and late surviving pterosaurs?
