Abrahamic Covenant

As a child, I would almost never hear the phrase “Abrahamic Covenant”. Today it is something we hear about all of the time. Perhaps that is because of the increased focus on the gathering of Israel which ties back to the Abrahamic Covenant, or perhaps it is the focus on “The Covenant Path” which is tied directly with the Abrahamic Covenant. Regardless of the reason for its greater prominence these days, it is a very good thing because the Abrahamic Covenant is one of the most important doctrines we need to understand in our journey to become like the Savior and return to live with our Heavenly Father. As Latter-day Saints, we have an enormous advantage over other religions in the understanding of the Abrahamic Covenant. This video helps describe what the Abrahamic Covenant is and the blessings that can come from it. But more importantly it describes the relationship between the Covenant and the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

My "PB" tells me to STUDY this covenant.. after years of searching.. I think I'm still learning different aspects of it.. it's like an onion!!

Alma 48:15&16 gives us some context about the "prosperity" we are promised by the Lord. It lists:
- warning us to flee danger;
- warning us to prepare for war;
- where to go to defend ourselves;
- how to be delivered from dangers.
It doesn't mention or imply temporal wealth.
In other places the scriptures are clear that the "prosperity" that God promises us for keeping the commandments is enjoying "the presence of the Lord" - cf:
2 Neph 1:20
2 Neph 4:4
Alma 9:13-14
Alma 36:30
Alma 37:13
Alma 38:1
Alma 50:20
Hel 12:21
I think we need to re-focus our expectations of the "prosperity" God promises us for being faithful to him, and consider the phrase "rest of the Lord" in Alma 13&14, D&C 84, and Ether 3.

Seems that "the promised land" in our days is the "mountain of the Lord's House, meaning Zion" or the stake or district organization where we belong. It is on this "promised land" we are promised to find safety from the world, and it is in Zion, or in our stakes, where we will "stand in holy places"; we may even say that we "stand in holy places" wherever we go as long as we are worthy and faithful!

Very interesting video. I do have an honest question. What happens to people who do not marry in the temple in this life? Whether its because of anxieties, depression, other mental health issues, being gay, lesbian or bisexual? Or civilly married only? What happens to them with the promises of exaltation?

# ask a priest : Why did God choose to hurt the private part of men (which is embarrassing ) as the sign of covenant instead of other parts of the body? Please do not answer that's for salvation, that's missing the point. The question is: why that sensitive and taboo private parts while there are fingers, forehead, shoulders, chests many parts else to make a mark?
