What happens if EU law and national law are in direct contrast with each other ie they say different rules? Which one is applied?

EU law holds supremacy over national law – this means that the EU law applies before the national law in that situation. Costa beat the Italian Government in this debate arguing that EU laws rather than Italian laws had to be applied in the legal debate he was having with them about them nationalising an energy company he owned shares, but not paying him a fair and proper value for his shares.

this video was really helpful :D I really enjoyed the crazy editing style, and the Nessun dorma at the end was the cherry on top 😂
