Live demos are a power move tbh. I write software. And I swear. No matter how much I practice, when it comes to demoing product to my customers, something always goes wrong.

But somehow, it's better to watch an embarrassing live demo than a false presentation and benchmarks.

That second to last bit is honestly horrifying.
Grandmas have been getting tricked by not their real grandsons for years.
But its getting to the point someone can literally facetime as you without anyone else's knowledge.
This is going beyond scruples/media literacy. How are we gonna trust *anything* anymore?

Do you remember when the pixel line was a nice cheap mid-level phone. An alternative to Samsung and Apple for people who didn't want to spend $1, 000 on a phone. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

It’s telling that Meta thought Crowdtangle is too effective of a tool for independent journalism that they decided to shut it down, and that AMD can just walk back on their permissions in a private email

The Ai obsession needs to end, users don’t care about it that much, it’s the corporations who are pushing it.

TWENTY SECONDS with no pulse is a wild move to call emergency services. i can see lots of false alarms with that

2:06 the pixel "add me" feature ... Im interested in seeing what abominations get created because someone decided to pose at the wrong spot after someone stepped out of the photo and the second person decided to stand in the exact same spot (or too close to it). People going to be joined at the hips or one body with two heads. This is the next level from trying to take a pano shot and someone keeps following the camera as it moves.

I'd trust Google more to design a good AI system if they could design a YT caption system that didn't randomly reset settings about once a week.

i didn't think camera bumps could get any uglier, but google proved me wrong

ZLUDA being taken down sucks. AMD's ROCm on Windows doesn't work properly and is a nightmare to setup due to large amounts of outdated info on AMD's own developer info site. There are still tons of pages saying it doesn't exist for windows.

Usually the only tech news I spread on fridays is "Microsoft messed up again guess we gotta clean up the mess for 6 hours today"

I like how we're literally making the AI from the films that we fear so much. With the ability to mimic anyone's faces and voices with ease. And even out smart humans.
And, investors and the common joe is like "More please!".

I specialised in live demos for CAD software, it's a talent to be able to pull off an engaging demo but one of the key things to success was to eliminate any reliance on variables that could change on the day... a network or the internet being a primary example. A company the size of Google especially given the stakes of the products succes, should be running a localised contained software to remove connectivity issues. You can't stop software just glitching out but if it does, then that's a reflection of the software and viewers should take from that what they will.
