I love capitalism, I would have hated to live in socialist or communist countries. But how exactly does proving your technological prowess, prove your government's validity and morality? Had Fate been slightly different, the Russians could have easily done the same thing, except they didn't need permission or blessing from their people to do it. Communists can do what they want and the people have to live with it. In america, if corrupt people ascend into the government, they have to at least feign approval of the people first
