It's called right-sized mobility, and Aptera is positioned nicely for prominence with a dedication to efficiency. It doesn't replace your Tundra or Tesla, it compliments them.

After reserving an Aptera I started working out a budget on monthly payments needed. I'm glad you briefly covered the pricing. I think many car buyers get caught up in the look and how it will make you fell opposed to all the fees and taxes it will take to drive your car whether its and EV, Hybrid, Gas or other fuel source vehicle. I know when I eventually get my vehicle in 2024 that the look will make the vehicle stand out. I will have to adjust to that, hope no one steals or vandillizes my vehicle. I'm excited to support a company that aligns more with my point of view. Its rare to be in a position to root for the success for a company these days but here we are. Support Aptera!!

In my eyes there is nothing like the Aptera! It is in a class of its own!

Every vehicle is a compromise. I think that a lot of people see a car that does everything that they want to do and think that they are not making a compromise, but they are. Usually what they are giving up is some combination of price, efficiency, quality and safety (or lethality for people that they run into). As long as you get the things that are most important to you, you are willing to forgo the things that are lower priority. (assuming that someone even makes a vehicle that matches your priorities.)

The way you are able to debate both sides of the argument without creating a "straw man" on one side or the other is always impressive. I think you nailed it again for both Tesla and Aptera. Well done Dre.

You've done an excellent comparison and breakdown. I agree that the two vehicles serve different markets for the most part, maybe with some overlap, but there is more than enough room for both of them to not only exist, but to succeed.

Interesting. Great comparison and realistic. I'm still in for Aptera. The more different types of EVs in the world, the better for the world.

I think you hit the nail on the head about alternatives to Aptera. There really aren't any. Anything else is just too different to make a real comparison.

The Aptera, for me, is a perfect vehicle. Its a lower price entry point and since it’s just me and my wife I don’t need to lug a family around. Plus my daily commute is less than what I’d charge from solar. The spaceship design just ices the cake.

I think that it’s gonna come down to looks and seating capacity for most people. I have an aptera on order but I know at times I will need more seats. I once bought a single cab truck thinking it would be enough but on several occasions needed more seats. I ended up traded that truck in for a dual cab even though it’s usually only me and another person. This aptera will be a second vehicle so not to concerned about that issue this time around.

Bingo, Drew, very well-said!

EVs should give us the change to break from the norm - no need to stick to trad formats because the components can go where they are needed.

Our transport needs change over time - EVs with bold designs let us really choose transport that we *need* rather than what trad OEMs *want* us to buy.

I reserved a 25kWh 2WD Aptera because it answers that question for me - replacing a 5-seat mid sized German highway cruiser (which will be 18yrs old by then) that now just gets used mostly for 20-mile commutes.

The real questions should be things like "What 3D printer do I need at home to make parts?"...!😁

The two seater Dodge Dakota has meet all my needs. Over five years two twenty minute trips with a third person.

excellent comparison and analysis of model 2 demographic. if I couldn't get an aptera I'll likely just stick with my plug in hybrid, as there really isn't any other EV that even remotely compares to Apteras features. hopefully aptera survives, as they could potentially revolutionize transportation. I'm also very convinced if they don't survive (not likely IMHO) someone else with deeper pockets would likely copy the concept and bring it to fruition, it's just good an idea. the real beauty of aptera is that it appeals to anyone who just wants the cheapest easiest personal transport period, ev or ice

I plan on doing the accelerator program, and have invested. I really wanted the 600 mile version, but my car probably won't last another 2 years, and doing the accelerator program is cheaper than buying an interim car waiting for my number to come up.

I go on 5 trips a year (10 trip legs) where I have to go on a 430 mile stretch without chargers, or drive 6-8 hours out of my way. I am also going to buy a lifepo4 14kwh or 28kwh (48v 280ah cells) battery pack for the house's frequent power outages (due to hurricanes). On my road trips I will put one or both of the battery packs in the trunk, and can charge the vehicle when I stop for lunch and snacks to get over the range hump.

btw: the battery pack is about 10 pounds per kw, and should only increase the weight of the car 7% to 15%, while giving it a range of 540 miles to 680 miles.

I wouldn’t be surprised with a future Aptera wagon just a long tear. Aptera makes me wanna get an EV just gotta wait to see if they come out or not.

I want the Model 2

But without a level 2 charger Aptera is my only option for any EV

Also less batteries mean less mining is good too

Tesla’s Gen 3 platform is just that. A platform. This platform will allow multiple model types to be built off it. S, X is one platform, 3, Y is another platform.

Aptera isn’t just producing a game changing revolutionary vehicle with OLD outdated decades old manufacturing methods, it’s also reinventing HOW vehicles are produced, it’s been designed from the ground up for much Less manufacturing costs, their methods allow for what Chris Anthony calls “ explosive scaling”
And with Sandy Munros help I have NO doubt they’ll achieve that. This is vehicle manufacturing like it’s NEVER been done before ever!
Mass production 2.0, Dawn of a new age in transportation. The others Rivian, Lucid and others are just bringing out EVs using same ole same ole manufacturing methods, expensive, time consuming clunky.
Aptera’s methods are ORDERs of magnitude cheaper!!
They’ll be bringing to market their groundbreaking product at roughly 1/10 the cost. Those who say Aptera can’t possibly do that are looking at it through OLD eyes and methods. This is mass production 2.0 baby!!
Chris Anthony was recently quoted as saying their “ production HELL” will be no warmer than a summer day in San Diego!! I LOVE that!!
And who doesn’t LOVE a summer day in San Diego?? I know I do.
If you think Aptera will have the same Production hell as the others then you havnt been paying attention. Please go back and watch all the stuff out there about Aptera as I’ll be giving an extra credit pop quiz later! Ha ha 😂

PS edit script, , , in the old days when the first automobiles were being made they looked like horse carriages because that’s what people knew, but then designers realized that automobiles were VERY different than horse carriages and needed to be different, that’s what Aptera is to the other EV manufacturers that are just making EVs that just electrify existing ice vehicles, Aptera is like those first automobiles that realized they don’t have or need to look like a horse carriage anymore. The Rivians and Lucids are the equivalent of those old automobiles that looked like horse carriages. 😂
