I got a dopamine rush and sense of satisfaction after seeing Dr.K grinning at the game boy. Technology addiction is real!

Sorry but what was the connection between “hard” things being worthwhile come back to being addicted to tech? It felt like a jump from that question to something not inherently related.

The look of pure joy on his face while holding a steam deck… As he’s lounging on the couch with bed head. It makes me smile and laugh probably because I can relate to it. 😁

Yes but just because something is easy doesn't make it lesser ;P
Especially cause we all need to recharge to be able to function

I love putting on 5 minute timers for things that I've put off for ages - it helped me realise that even cleaning a plate takes like 30 seconds 😅🎉

I agree with you but for me, I think it is sad that some people generally think like that, that every work should automatically be hard to do. Here in Germany for example, working in the social field as a lady with passion & self-confidence, many things are easy for me to do, such as building quickly connections to so-called "difficult" children & parents. Hence, some people who obviously want to dim my light say that I don't work because I don't need to work hard. Meanwhile, they are openly struggling themselves with such young & old clients. Like you said in one old video before, that sometimes it's enough TO LOVE to keep motivated to do the things you do. I think we should not develop a guilty conscience if we are able to do jobs easily just because others struggle in the same position. Not every work should be hard just to be considered as work.❤

i suppose it’s because i feel like i have at least a vague idea of what i can or should do to improve at a video game, so it fills the void in my life where actual productive endeavors should be fulfilling my needs(?).

i don’t know if i’m addicted to technology in general, or even video games anymore, but i find that video games are the only thing that i can actually engage with without getting bored or depressed.

So what you're saying is... I need to become a High Value Man

So then why don’t we value direct support workers for people with developmental disabilities? Why is that such an undervalued career?

I actually left my phone in my car for my first shift at work at this restaurant and honestly stopped caring about it 5mins in. It was refrehing! And got hooked on hearing the customers stories and making light jokes and learning the ropes it was awesome

I've never really been on board with this logic. Just because sth is hard to do doesn't automatically make it worthwhile and valuable. E.g. the value of an education does not come from the fact that it was hard to attain, but from the knowledge and expertise it confers. If I shovel a very deep hole in the garden and then put all the dirt back in the hole until the end of the day, and then repeat that every single day for years on end, I will have also worked very hard, but there will be little to no value associated with all that hard work (aside from maybe the exercise I'm getting).

May be that's why we are not mentally become calm because we want to do hard thing but don't want to just sit and watch our own thoughts which is very simple thing to do but because our mind loves to do hard thing that actual simple thing becomes hard for us. Correct me if I'm wrong...
