The California snowstorm has convinced me that prepping is a good thing. I was worried I was going overboard, not true. There are people snowed in, that did not have 2wks of groceries to live on, my heart goes out to them. Another snowstorm is on its' way.

Make corned beef with cabbage and cut up one or 2 potatoes in it. Just adds a little more body to the soup. And then I make the corned beef with just potatoes. It is so good for you. You can add carrots or corn as well to the cabbage. I use plenty of onions and green pepper as well.

I stock up on dried beans, peas, rice, & lentils. Salt, flour, sugar, & yeast. Peanut butter powder, jerky, olive oil, pancake mix, & powdered milk.

This month: 10# macaroni, 3-12pk Chef boyardee, 3- #10 can freeze-dried fruits. 2 jugs of Walmart brand antibacterial dish liquid. Feline wound care spray, 3-month of OTC claritin, 5 pkgs of Kind bars.
Replacement of things we use is a constant. Fresh fruits, clean up and share with my Dad across the yard, same with any leftover meal i can get him to take. If it was cookies, he would take a whole grocery bag.

After 30 yrs on the job the hubby had to retire because of health issues..he’s been denied even though the dr say no more work. I want to thank you for what you do. I live in a small house and need to keep much of my supplies in marked boxes in a spare bedroom. I keep all the supplies on a spreadsheet on my computer in categories. I have a small kitchen pantry and I used the spare bath tub as my extra pantry. I have a large shelving unit in the tub stocked with food I eat and rotate. My grandchildren like it when we go into the bathroom to “shop” for goodies.

I’m so glad I saw this today. I get easily overwhelmed trying to figure out what to get. I see that I need a variety and do it a little at a time. Don’t need to go broke getting everything at once.

I like to organize my extras by types; all tomato paste, tomato sauce, rotel, tomatoes are together, canned vegetables all together, meat all together, soups together, condiments, baking, etc. It makes it so much easier for when I go looking for a certain item, I know exactly where it should be and can tell if I need more or not. I like corned beef, but it seems like the hubs and son don't, but I bought a couple of cans to have on hand. And we really don't eat tuna either, but I do have a couple cans on hand as well. I like to keep stocked up on cream of chicken soup, as I stock canned chicken and will pair them together for a meal. I also keep my kitchen shelves organized the same way.

Getting properly organized is my big failing. My preps are spread all across my house and a storage unit. I'm in the process of redoing a foreclosure I just purchased and it has a full basement (with a sand point well) so hopefully by this time next year I'll be all organized.
