If the government tells renters they don't have to pay, then the government should pay the property owners

They don’t have to pay rent, but the landlord has to pay property taxes, insurance, maintenance, repairs. Welcome to the new America.

Our courts and lawmakers need to stop protecting all dirt bags.

I practiced law in California when I first passed the CA bar. I was an associate so the partners would give me the tenant/landlord cases. It was ridiculous how long and what amount of work went into evicting people. Meanwhile, they trashed the property and paid no rent. I moved to Texas and found out you can evict someone for the slightest problem, like paying your rent a week late. The Constable goes out and physically evicts the tenants.

if the government says it’s ok to not pay rent then the government should pay the landlord every month

A lot of people are taking advantage of mom and pop landlords. It’s completely unfair.

He should sue the tenant for $87, 000!

as a renter I could not sleep knowing I owed my landlord. His money is my first priority. a safe secure roof is priceless.

Their stimulus checks should go straight to the landlord!

I'm a renter & I would NEVER squat in anothers home for 11 months! This is absolutely ridiculous

I'm surprised nobody has started a class action lawsuit against California.

What they did to renters was just wrong. I didn’t have a job for 6 months when Covid happened and I paid my rent every month. In my head there were NO other options. I could never do that to someone regardless of what the temporary protections were

I find it reprehensible that you can't evict for uncollected rent, yet the property tax bill arrives right on schedule. lol

This is just awful! Landlords shouldn't be put in this position. I understand the need to help people but it can't be one sided

As a 65 year old who grew up with parents who owned rentals I can say this: NEVER be a landlord! It is nothing but problems. This latest "policy" is this, in its raw form: "Landlords MUST provide FREE housing to renters". As that man says in the video, what other industry is forced, by law to provide their goods or services FREE to the public?

This administration is putting many families in difficult situations. A lot of people are financially struggling to live, put a roof over their head and put food on the table. Things are getting worse these days, if you don't find means of multiplying your money you might wake up a day to realise you didn't plan well for yourself and family.

I see people who are not paying rent and buying new cars and other things. They need to be hold accountable for that rent owed.

Crazy how they had a program to protect the tenants from eviction but didn't want to give landlords assistance for their mortgage🤔

How things got passed to protect renters or freeloaders in any way shape or form is Seriously Ridiculous.

So let me get this straight. Students want to be forgiven for over a TRILLION in debt that THEY SIGNED up for but landlords aren't receiving any compensation from the same government that put them in this position in the first place??

HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE
