You're a very good speaker, the way you explain things is so simple but effective and you make what you explained easy for people to understand,

Lots of coops burn down due to those heat lamps. You should get a fireproof fixture for that lamp.

our water freezes but we go out every 30-60 minutes to put fresh water on freezing days. we put heat lamp on ceilings-turn on only if coop gets to under 20. we also grabbed a rope light to attach to rafters, only took 2 wks to get them started again:). also we check for eggs much more cause you don't want them to freeze or crack. great video!!

Hey! I recommend to NOT use heat lamps if a feather hits it it could all Ignite in flames without your chickens being able to escape! And if the power goes out they don't have enough time to react! if you use a BRIGHT light you will be fine (my personal experience no force
)

You don't have to use that heat light it burns a lot of power just a regular CFL light bulb with work lights on at 4 am lights off at 8 am

I started lighting my birds when the days got short. I had an insulating drop-light attached to a timer. The light extended the sunlight to 14 hours. I got 8 dozen a week with Americanas, Rhode Island Red, Barred Plymouth Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons and Grey Leghorns.

I use a 50 ga. plastic drum with lid with a small hose to a auto watering dish, fill it about once a year. A low watt light bulb under the water dish during the winter keeps the water from freezing. LED lights turned on, take little to no electric. 5 hens and I get 5 eggs a day even now December when it freezes at night and some days. My girls free range at will, never locked up, can go in or out at will.

Electricians (like myself) are watching this with closed eyes.

Also red light is not doing what you think it's doing. It's heating the coop. THATS IT. It's not providing light.

Heating lamp in coop is high risk for fire.
