just a random artist's thoughts...watch in 4K :)

App ⇢ Procreate
Device ⇢ iPad Pro 12.9 inch (4th gen) and Apple Pencil

*note* i'm not here to judge anyone's art process/journey. these experiences are just my own–everyone will feel and experience different journeys. my main argument is that the true problem is that because of comparison, we find ourselves discontent with ourselves and it rly sucks to see. so yes sorry i did clickbait you in a way but at the same time..not rly bc i did technically address the "problem" :D

❌ the problem with pewdiepie's art journey

✅ the problem with aspiring artists' mentality

I think the reason his improvement is so impressive and rapid is because he’s focused on consistency and tackling his weak points. So many casual artists including myself delay learning the basics for years but he’s tackling them straight away! I don’t think him buying an iPad gives him that much of an advantage over most non millionaire artists 😭 he’s just an efficient learner and we all can benefit from following in his footsteps if we can

I thought the art community was all about encouraging and helping others out? Why are we suddenly bashing on PewDiePie for taking the time out of his day to draw for an entire year?

I think ross said it in a previous video, Pewdiepie has the ability to see precisely what aspects of his art need improving, which is a skill, and others might not be as good at that skill. He tackled his weak points over the course of a year as a recent father and I think the dude deserves props for that. "You can only get this good because youre rich" is cope. Would it be harder if he was working a 9-5 earning shit wage focused on feeding his new kid? Sure. Would it be impossible to dedicate a few minutes each day to his hobby? No, probably not. Be happy for others folks. And focus on your own journeys

I’m proud at the fact. I’m 40, 000 words into my novel and getting close to completing it and moving on to the sequel.

I mean yes he's a millionaire, but that was not because of old money. Pewdiepie worked his ass off uploading every single day since 2011 or something. Went from selling hotdogs to being a successful youtuber. Let this man do what he wants now cuz he earned it!

Thanks to Pewdiepie I got inspired to start drawing again after essentially giving up on it, and I am so glad I got back to it because I finally enjoy art again

I'm proud that I actually left my house and went to my first-ever Halloween party. I'm a very shy and sheltered person due to my upbringing, but a friend of mine from online said, 'I'm coming to town, and I want to hang out. I know you're afraid, but don't be.' So, I’m happy I got that life experience. I still struggle with social anxiety

Envy can be both a blessing and a curse, but unfortunately in most cases, it ruins a person's perspective on everything and themselves.

It can become a blessing when you can channel your envy toward others’ efforts, talents, or achievements and have clarity on how to direct that envious feeling. So, it's on you on how you'll manage your own enviousness.

The question is, will you use it to sabotage/mock the person you envy? Will you turn it inward and sabotage yourself, believing you’ll never catch up instead?
OR will you try to have it inspire you, motivating you to reach, or even better, surpass their level one day without harming anyone, including yourself?

It's not easy, i know, but please for God sake stop putting others down or pity yourself too much over their achievement/talent. Raise up your ego but also be humble, don't be spiteful with your "idol" either.

Add: One more thing to say, everyone's have different life situation, learning capability, and spare times. So please, please, PLEASE DON'T pressure into yourself to draw everyday and get same results like Felix too much either! The last thing you want is getting burnout or worse, you may finally fed up with drawing.

I started to sew a lot of clothing lately.
I'm not a great seamstress, but I keep improving every week, and recieving compliments on your clothes when you made them yourself feels crazy cool

I get why people talk about the "being rich" part. It is not only about being able to afford materials or having a bit more free time. It is about having peace of mind. If you are financially set for life, you know all your family's most basic needs are taken care of forever. Food, housing, healthcare, education, etc. The burden of being productive for those reasons is lifted. You can finally simply enjoy the process. Enjoy the failures, the challenge of learning and that makes a lot of difference. When you have responsabilities that are weighing in your mind, it is hard to simply feel free to devote yourself fully to a hobby project that doesn't bring any financial/professional advances.

Not all practice is the same practice. There's very solid science behind this called deliberate practice. I hope people realize that genetics aren't that big of a factor.

Learning is a skill on its own (which you can improve at). Some people are better at it than others, which will result in different progress rates. Keeping in mind also that background and experience with various things play into it (although this is harder to quantify if said experience is not immediately obvious how its related to the skill in question).
