The brother of my great grandfather was a Nakajima pilot on the aircraft carrier IJN Akagi.
He took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and also survived the battle of midway

Fun fact: the IJN Akagi was laid down as a battlecruiser, but the japanese changed because of washington naval treaty. after that it has been scuttled because of it's heavy damage on the battle of midway.

Wow, the extra effort on the graphics over time has been noticed. Fantastic job! Whoever you are, or whoever you people are!

Aircraft carriers existed during the American Civil War. Hot air balloons were launched and returned to ships to keep a lookout on the Confederacy Coast with some even venturing in land before returning. The frist heavy aircraft carriers (that carried planes appeared later)
Edited 8/2/221849 the Austrian Navy ship SMS Vulcano was the frist to use balloons from the ship for military bombing in the first offensive use of air power in naval aviation. However these balloons were unmanned and were recorded to have also dropped their payloads back onto Austrian lines. American unionists did use manned balloons for warfare

I really like the cartoony art style with making a modern destroyer ship cartoon for a 1907 ship :)

10:52 If only the Time Traveling 1980s USS NIMITZ had only not recalled its planes and gone ahead to sink all 6 of Japan's largest heavy aircraft carriers .... the world would be an entirely different place. 😆

The first true aircraft carrier was the HMS Argus, built on the hull of an uncompleted liner named the SS Campanga. The first American carrier was a converted collier named the USS Jupiter and renamed the USS Langley.

Air superiority is basically a win with no chance of a come back

Notable omissions from the video include HMS Ark Royal (later named HMS Pegasus), generally considered to be the first true aircraft carrier; HMS Furious, the first to launch and land wheeled aircraft (carrier with largest armaments, an 18-inch gun); Hōshō, the first purpose-built carrier; HMS Hermes, the first with off-set superstructure and hurricane bow (built first but launched after Hōshō due to learnings from existing carriers); and HMS Warspite, honorary aircraft carrier for being the first to sink a U-boat with a ship-launched plane.

The argument nobody ever seems to talk about when it come to "are carriers obsolete and did america fail to see the shift" is if carriers are obsolete and there was this big shift then why is China pooling all of its man power and resources to build their own and catch up technologically to their U.S counterparts.

Recently I have been to Ernakulam. There I saw INS Vikrant docked in Cochin shipyard. It looked magnificent. Its going to be commissioned into the Indian Navy next month. Indian Navy is in the process of purchasing of aircraft for its air fleet. Rafale-M and FA-18 super hornets are the contenders. Most probably super hornets are going to be selected.

12:37, on modern carriers, there are np "radio operators", the stairing of the aircraft is helped by three lights on side of the carrier.

AEGIS defenses, along with patriot and THAAD, (designed to intercept ICBM re-entry vehicles at various ranges) can hypothetically target and defeat hypersonic missles (which are slower then re-entry vehicles.) They travel in mostly straight trajectories and their mobility is limited due to speed. Close in engagement systems like the Phalanx deal with massed carriers threats. Not to say it's indestructible, but it doesn't sail by itself. It has a whole fleet of capable ships that coordinate together to protect the carrier
