Joerg, I cannot tell you how much this video has earned my respect. Your clear eyed explanation of the facts is so refreshing. As an American it feels like we are completely paralyzed when it comes to our own history. One side is hell bent on sweeping our history under the rug or creating an alternate version, and the other side completely defines themselves by the amount of resistance/ virtue they can generate by being "not' the others. It is insane and tearing us apart. I wish we could have more presentations like yours and remember how to discuss fact instead of making it into a game like we do with the rest of our culture. I know some people somehow think that the nazis where somehow good, and of course I think those people can go kick rocks.

but as a fan of history, if I were to somehow procure some piece of nazi equipment, I wouldn't idolize it, nor would I scorn it and through it away.

it's a big piece of history and for that alone it should be preserved and seen, it should be recognized as history, no matter how "evil" or "good", there is a story in every helmet and gun that all sides of world war two used.


I love the guns that the nazis used, but that doesn't mean I like the nazis.
