Dancing part from Josie - another Vera Ellen´s number from KID FROM BROOKLYN (1946).

I don´t like this dance too much - but VE is dancer (one from few) who can offer amazing things in bad numbers - one from reasons I believe she is best film dancer ever, the next one, every dance number she executed in different way. See part (0:52 - 1:55) - she never danced something similar and her comical tap combination with ballet is absolutely unique (no one can do this maybe except Ray Bolger), and style she working with hands (not only here) is simply best in film dancing.

Every time I watch one of her videos, it's a clinic. One perfect movement after another. Many thanks!

Was anyone on her level, I mean a lot of great dancers, but she has a unique style all her own, amazing!

Who else went back to figure out where she changed her shoes?

Fred Astiare, Gene Kelly recieved many films of their own as dancers. Vera Ellen could out dance both of them and only got 2nds.
God rest your soul Vera. You still are the best, of any !

She looks to be at a healthy weight here, contrast with 1954 White Christmas.

Healthy legs and no hiding the neckline yet. Not long after, the muscles of her calves began to obtrude.

Overall, that faintly marionette-ish quality, as if a mite too eager to please...? Or have I been spoilt by Eleanor Powell's air of authority in similar gymnastic moments?
