Cary Goronkin has struggled with Crohn's disease off and on since he was in his 20s. When the painful intestinal disorder flared anew at age 50, he turned to the specialists at UC Irvine Medical Center.

Now 52, the owner of Pita Jungle, a Mediterranean-style restaurant, says that with expert medical care, it is possible to live a full and healthy life with Crohn's disease.

I live and thrive with Crohn's. I exercise constantly, I eat 2 large, healthy meals a day, I drink a ton of water and smoke a lot of weed and basically NEVER have flare ups. I was diagnosed at 13 years old, but I haven't had an issue in years and I'm 31. It's all about taking extreme care of yourself and staying active.

I have had really bab Crohn's disease since I was 15, what followed is s life of having way too many surgeries then developing abdominal adhesions, changing my diet drastically. I can eat soft things like pasta or rice, anything more solid like chicken breast kills me. I have a narrowing right where the small intestine meets the colon, so it makes my life hell. I wouldn't mind speaking to anyone who knows what a painful disease can do to you.

It’s possible, but not for everyone. I have Crohn’s for 5 years and nothing has gotten better. Medicines are ass, I just deal with it.

How are you doing now? I
Have crohn’s bad. I’m supposed to have surgery, but not sure. Did you get your whole colon removed or just some of it?

I’m 21 and have ulcers on my stomach possibly on my intestines due to alcohol abuse I’ve regretted now because unlike this guy he at-least have someone who loves him by his side. I’ve never been that happy through out my life and I always been alone most of my childhood and teen years I don’t know what love is about and feel really depressed about myself. I pray hopefully I get out of this problem and start a new life fresh and start being more open minded and give myself a meaning to live for, such as having love and a kid, give them a good life even for my grand kids. Travel all over the world with a wife or kids, atleast by myself, but it’s all nothing but a dream and probably will legally euthanized myself if I live miserable with this unwanted sickness just to end my suffering what’s the point of it all if I can’t don’t anything much no more
