Sorry to nitpick, but it seems that there is a misunderstanding both in this video and at the beginning of the Forward by Norman Doidge in 12 rules for life:
The Israelites got the Ten Commandments at Mt. Sinai shortly after leaving Egypt. The forty years of wandering happened after that as a punishment for the sin of the spies.
