So he's disposing of the original filename, which on some files contains the original date stamp. Windows sometimes, at its whim, changes the modified date on files when you only access them, even if it's by a software that cannot possibly resave the file. I have my photos in a Photo directory. Inside that folder, I have a folder for every single date I've taken digital photos. The folder is named the date the photos were taken. On some folders, I want the occasion marked, so I add that to the date in the folder name. This way, all the folders stay sorted in date order. I never rename photo files.

On the other hand, I do rename music files, as they are never named the way I want. I want them all to be title, artist, and release year. If there is a recording date, I add that. If it's an old 45 or 78, I try to include the original catalog info. This is easier for me than trying to change the tags. Also, the tag fields aren't always long enough to hold the entire title or artist name. I was glad when Windows95 came along so I wasn't stuck with the 8.3 DOS file names.

Is there a way to get windows to rename a bunch of files in a sequence of numbers starting at 001 and going all the way to the end? I just want them all renumbered from whatever file name my drone generated starting at 001.

Or add them to a photo catalogue that can then use AI to work out what each photo actually is and who is in what photo and tag them for you with useful meta data?

Duh. I done this since windows 2000. What's your next video about? Pressing Alt F4 closes a program?
