Since King Baldwin had Leporsy... and he was basically rotting away under those robes and mask... many smaller historians are now referring Baldwin as "The Undead King of Jerusalem". And he was a very wise young man, spoke from his heart and fought with strategy... his armor and weapons were as strong as his people... as was his WILL.

His strength and power may have been odd, because he wanted peace... and to fight back the Muslims. Monks wore armor, and carried weapons. Children had to stay close to their parents, as even they were armed with weapons to defend themselves just in case of an invasion.
