250 for no backlight is absolutely diabolical

I was so smug for being too poor to worry about this shit until Wade whipped out the exact same electric toothbrush I have.

I want to see the tech that hasn't let Dank down. The true heroes of this channel. Like 1 Grit and the Shrek iPad.

When Dank says yelling at banks, I'm assuming he's just wandering around yelling at the buildings, not actually going inside.

Hey Dankpods, just want to let you know. The Sony earbuds you have are actually one of the EASIEST set of Bluetooth buds you can replace the batteries on, literally only need a guitar pick and a screwdriver to remove the batteries, DONT THROW EM, THE NEWER ONES ARE SOLDERED IN!

Technically once your electric toothbrush stops working you just have a regular toothbrush again

A note on warranty periods in Aus, they don't actually mean anything; our consumer protection laws supercede anything the manufacturer says and cover the expected lifetime of the device. Even if Apple only offer 12 months warranty, if a "reasonable person" would expect the product to last longer than this then Apple, by law, still have to replace/refund if it fails. You'll have to call them a couple times and likely lodge a complaint with Fair Trading in your state, but once they realise you aren't just going to give up, you'll get your money back. I've done it a few times, they usually fold around the time you give them a fair trading reference, if not mentioning small claims court.

I don’t doubt the enshittification of most modern tech in the slightest, but I’m starting to think one of those nuggets from a few years ago actually DID put a curse on you at some point. My money’s on that SpongeBob player.

Dank After Dark needs to be a special where Wade explores weird parts of Australia, or at least his part of Australia. I would happily pay to watch that, especially on a streaming service.

“Dank After Dark”… I’d watch a podcast called D.A.D

I like how DankPods bought a new iPad cover and it's already more scuffed than the previous one

Hey Wade, I work in Cell Phone Repair, if that iPhone sat unused for 1+ years it's probably the battery that gave up on it. Li-Ion batteries really hate trickling down to empty as they sit, and sometimes will fail entirely. Battery swap is usually around 100 freedom vouchers at a third party shop. It's probably savable!

Casio has been making that calculator watch since the 80s. It never had a backlight (which was common back then), and Casio doesn't update their watches, so that's why it doesn't have a backlight. It was expensive because of the special color scheme and the reverse LCD, but the normal version of that watch is like $20.

$2000 for a premium brand phone with that short a lifespan seems like a candidate for Australian Consumer Law refund.

If there is no damage to the iPhone and you have the receipt, Australian consumer guarantee means they have to repair or replace it - regardless of the warranty duration that apple stipulates.
Edit: same with the PreSonus - complain to the ACC if they dont honor it.

Take the $250 band and put it on the $40 gold-boy.

Planned obsolescence should be illegal. And intentionally making things impossible to fix should also be illegal.

Being a big Casio enthusiast, I have some gripes with the watches section.

The first gold one, you got it on way too tight. The strap comes with adjustment holes you can easily manage yourself using a pin or paperclip. If you didn't like the strap, they can literally be replaced for another cheap strap.

That 250$ one is metal version of the CA53w, a 30$ watch from the 80s. It never had a backlight and it really sounds like you impulse bought it rather than doing a quick fit and then getting ripped off by the shop on top of it.

The GBD200 that you have has bluetooth functions with a MIPS display, hence a shorter 2-3 year battery life (and the battery is also replaceable, it's still uses a watch battery so its very easy to replace). If you wanted one that only had the basic functions and lasted a decade, Casio literally has a ton of Gshocks that can do the job.

I know it doesn't excuse Casio for upselling a cheap watch by dolling it up and calling it done, but at some point I feel like you're getting angry at your own decisions.
