I think the different variation of Lumber Tumble was a coincidence. There are probably different layouts but I don't think it has anything to do with the CPU difficulty level at all.

In Mario Party 5 it was actually possible to have 4 leaves on the same side in a row.

Some of these were so easily proven or disproven I wonder how some of these got started. Like all it takes is 5 seconds in Western World to know that you don't get a costume, and whoever started the myth on getting a 50:50 in Prime Cut is just calling themself out that they've never achieved that

That log minigame changes randomly each time and not the difficulty

If Lumber Tumble works like early Mario Party games, the harder courses are more likely to appear on harder difficulties, but not exclusive to them. They are also more likely to appear near the end of games, especially in long games.... while even on harder difficulties, on turn 1 you will usually get the easier versions of the games. This isn't just true for race games but also for things like Bumper Balls where there may be hills and ice sometimes.
