Miquella grew the Haligtree by feeding it his own blood. We also know that Miquella never fully reaches physical maturity, and his Haligtree never became a true Erdtree. That's why there's this maternal form within the tree that he would be literally attached to and would be sharing his blood supply with in the same way that children do in the womb before they mature and are capable of living separately.

That's further reinforced when we discover his Empyrean Cocoon as it's placed atop gigantic bone hips by Mohg to facilitate Miquella being given his Accursed blood from the womb of the Outer God known as the Formless Mother in an attempt to form the Mogwyn Dynasty — which, just like the Haligtree & Miquella's Unalloyed Gold, never reaches maturity.

That's also linked to why Malenia is always left waiting for her brother's arrival, but he never arrives. She is his opposite where her body is eternally decaying as it's passed its maturity and is declining towards death forever. That's why Miquella left the Golden Order to try and form Unalloyed Gold to cure himself and his sister. As Twins, they shared the same blood supply in the womb and their existence is just out of balance. They're Empyreans as they're born of a single god as Marika & Radagon are the same being, even further reinforcing this singular existence that's trying to subsist upon itself as both parent & child.

Probably one of my favourite executions of visual themes for the underlying story in _Elden Ring._

that's the pelvic bone that his egg sits in that mohg took him away in/on.

i guess it made for semi-decent handles to carry him on.

Just completed my second bloodborne playthrough 2 years after my first one. Laurence first try and orphan under an hour in one evening. The last time each one took me 4 days of grinding. Didn’t even realise it but after no summon malenia everything else feels so much easier.

What I wonder is whether Malenia tried to look for Miquella after he disappeared? Seems a bit odd to just sit there and wait like they would return on their own eventually.

I always thought that Miquella was some kind of nod or reference to Bran Stark: a somewhat disabled kid who lives inside a tree with superpowers who is (possibly) manipulating events from afar.

I think that when or if we get miquella in dlc he may be a character we help, allured by his powers of persuasion we let him go back to the tree now with the cursed blood he got from mohg with I think he wanted to happen by influencing mohg. We’ll maybe put him back then let him grow then snap out of that spell but he’ll be fully grown, not sure

This brings a couple things to mind and makes me wonder. Could this be Miquella's original body and how big were the gods in their hay day? Characters like Radahn and Hoarah Loux are positively massive in stature along with Omens like Margot. Even deity like beings like Rennala who are supposed to be closer to regular people stand almost twice our size. Are we the residual effect of this cycle of endless rebirth, essentially loosing little bits and parts each time until we end up like the more hollow like nobles in The Lands Between? Also the shape and style of the tree bears a lot of resemblance to the four kings from DS. I wonder if there is any connection in theme or inspiration.

Post DLC, a lot of the comments on this video read really funny. The most succinct to me seems to be referring to the "chest" though. We've seen miquella in 4 different forms and he doesn't get breasts in any of them, ergo that's not him in the tree. Okay so it's missing some body parts, the right arm, legs, yadda yadda. But here's what I've got:

That body not only resembles Marika, it is basically a photo-negative of the parts of Radagon/Marika that have been broken and turned to shadow-limbs in the final fight. Almost like he was trying to literally grow a body to graft marika into.
