"Spider" isn't actually entirely accurate for the Goliath Birdeater; it's actually a tarantula, but many people call it a spider for the sake of simplicity. Spiders and tarantulas, though both arachnids, are actually two different categories entirely. There are multiple differences like their fangs: spiders will have fangs that face each other inward, but tarantulas fangs are parallel to each other and face downward. Also, tarantulas are generally larger and much more long-lived than spiders (most true spiders only live 2-3 years, where some species of tarantula can live upwards of 20+ years). Not all spiders have hair, but all tarantulas have hair (which is very soft by the way); many tarantulas also will use this hair as a defense mechanism by kicking it at predators- it's called urticating hair and will cause irritation if it gets in the eyes (that's why you always wash your hands after holding one, just in case). Spiders can also withstand much lower temperatures than tarantulas, with many spiders going into hibernation at colder temperatures where tarantulas would simply freeze to death instead. Spiders are actually much more dangerous overall in terms of venom, with there being over 30 species of spider that pose a threat of death to humans, whereas most tarantula venom will cause a stinging sensation at best (equivalent to a bee sting) or swelling and nausea at worst (but won't kill you unless you have a severe allergic reaction to it, besides this most prefer to run away as opposed to bite anyway).
(I've kept spiders and tarantulas, so this is a subject I'm passionate about.)

A real life monster that is not on this list is a sea creature called the vampire squid. It got it's name because some people thought it drank blood.

Not shown on this list, but bobbit worms are definitely nightmare fuel (for small fish, anyway). Hard to explain what they are, but imagine several-foot-long worms buried vertically in the ocean floor. The worm's highly sensitive antenna protrude about the ground. Whenever a fish brushes against the antenna, it triggers the worm to open and then snap its sharp mandibles shut, swallowing the fish whole.

Eerily enough, people have found these worms hiding in their personal fish tanks. I once met a woman who told me that she bought an aquarium full of fish. The next day, the tank was totally empty of fish. When cleaning the tank out, she found the bobbit worm in the tank's dirt.

Strange, I remember hearing that Komodo Dragons debilitated their prey with bacteria in their mouth which caused life-threatening infections.

The deep dark ocean scares the hell out of me. Just imagine coming across something like a giant squid or whatever else we haven't even discovered yet.

the only thing on this list that I'm really scared of is the hornets and maybe the komodo dragon(then again, komodo dragons have been successfully tamed to near dog-level at nearly every zoo that keeps them) if you want a giant spider that is both scary AND dangerous, try the Brazilian wandering spider, it looks like a tarantula, but is actually in it's own group, and it's tied with the Australian funnel web spider for "most venomous spider in the world". That's something to actually be scared of.

Japanese giant salamander? The real life monster probably inspired tales of the Kappa, a river monster.

I'm curious as to how rotating eyes allows the barrel/barrow? fish to get away from predators.

The crackling sound those killer hornets reminds me of pop rocks. OK, now I don’t know if I can ever eat pop rocks again lol.

The monitor lizard can be found in many countries, the Komodo is a member of the family. Greetings from Singapore! I was freaked out years ago to find a lizard just outside my condo - and it then skittered to my pool! It was about five feet long. More often seen in the nature reserves, of course.

I'm familiar with an anglerfish, star-nosed mole, Komodo dragons, and a northern giant hornet. And I drew an anglerfish when I was little, along with some other animals, including a scuba-diver. Komodo dragons jump out on a trail and tear their prey apart. Even if they bite an animal and the animal got away, the animal would die within 2 or 3 days. All the others on this list sure are strange and scary-looking, especially the barreleye! I thought the black spots were its eyes. That creature is baffling! I learned new things in this video.
