Welcome to my new PIANO BOOTCAMP SERIES, concise keyboard and piano lessons to teach you the fundamental and essential skills and techniques to take your piano playing to the next level. These lessons are aimed at beginner and intermediate students, adults or kids.

The topic of today's tutorial is an introduction to the CIRCLE OF FIFTHS, and the CIRCLE OF FOURTHS. I'll explain why it's a good idea to use the circle when practicing chords, progressions and scales.

You can also use the "alternate bass" to identify the 5th interval... Try playing any type of March and which bass note would you use for the "bah" in the "oum- bah"... ;-) I learnt this on electric Piano many years ago, looong before i learnt the circle of 5ths

Good stuff - I'd not seen the blues riffing added to this before. Nice to flesh out what might otherwise be a bit of a dry topic

Would you please do a video about practicing the Hanon exercises? Specifically the first 20.

Woody years ago.. probably 15..
I was reviewing the circle of fifths.. I like to think in terms of 4ths rather than a five to one.. both are right . But it is really a five to one.
Well anyways I came up with a system. Im sure it's been around for centuries. BEAD system. The pattern is super simple. Start withe the word BEAD then GCF .next the flats Bb Eb Ab Db then Gb Cb Fb.
Fb is E so just keep going.it takes a little practice. I would write it down...when the part Gb comes along think of that as F#.. the B E etc.

Good one, Woody! Just remember to define the finger numbers, instead of "This one and that one" ;-)

Thanks for these. Really enjoying learning from you. I will be blending your advice with what I learn on pianote's channel as well.

Hello Woody & thanks for the great channel - very welcome in these times, particularly. Just a quick question on the P121 - do you miss the “missing” keys, such that you have to adapt your piano playing? Or is it not normally an issue?
