This cemetery is very hard to find and get to. It is beside 8809 W. 132nd Pl.
The best way to get to this cemetery is to go to around the North side of the mound and park at the bottom of the hill. The cemetery was first read in the 1950's by Beatrice Horner, then again in 1992 by Northwest Indiana Genealogy Society.

The first person buried in 1837 was a daughter of the Russell family. The second person buried was a youn Norwegian buried in 1837.

I do a lot of local history research and volunteer with the Lake County Historical Society in Crown Point - I love watching these videos! Thanks for sharing all the interesting history, documenting everything, and taking the time to do it all!

Meyer's (Mound) Cemetery is one of the oldest settler cemeteries in the county (the oldest is Woodvale). And there are actually three Revolutionary War Veterans buried in Lake County: William Van Gorden (Gorder) at Mounds Cemetery, Obadiah Taylor at the site of the former West Point Cemetery, and Stephen Wilcox at Pleasant View Cemtery in Schererville.

I love these old cemeteries. So much history in them.

My stepdad grew up here. He has family in that cemetery. He’s 82. The spooky thumb is unneeded.
