Huh, I’ve been using top loading washers for years and never had issues with things not coming cleaned or rinsed out. The top loading washers she’s referring to are the newer HE models which don’t really use enough water to begin with and don’t have full control of the machine for “efficiency” purposes since that’s how all newer washers are to meet the new energy guidelines and so forth. If you use a older machine with all mechanical controls that give you full control over the machine, you won’t have any issues with anything getting damaged since on some older machines you can select the agitate and spin speed separately. Those who have had things damaged in top loading washers simply weren’t using the machine correctly by either not using enough detergent or too much detergent, using only cold temperatures, not setting the water level to the correct load size, or selecting the maximum wash time for a lightly soiled load of clothes which not only wears out clothes but the machine itself. I’ve know several people in a vintage appliance forum I am in who have specifically used top loading machines for years and have clothes that still look new, hell one person said their grandparents who lived through the depression were still wearing clothes from the 60’s and 70’s that were only washed and dried in a Maytag set from the late 1960’s.

Not sure about Germany, but it seems like she hasn’t traveled much in the US. She’s really generalizing based on the small area she’s lived in.

Her opinions make it obvious that she’s a college student with very limited experience outside of the college culture in one town.

I live in Ohio and my house came with a handheld shower. Crusty bread is easy to find at almost any standard grocery store. So is fresh mozzarella; aged mozzarella is firm.

My dad and brother hunt and eat what they kill. While people can get a concealed carry permit, I’ve never seen someone with a gun in public.

I live in the city, and have absolutely no concerns about walking in my neighborhood after midnight or later. (I’m a night owl.)

I agree that the public shooter situation is worryingly out of control. It’s seems like there’s one in the news every other day.

Public air conditioning is usually very cold, but I keep mine set at 24 C and I’m quite comfortable.

My paychecks are directly deposited in my account; I haven’t received or used a paper check in YEARS. In fact, I rarely use cash. My bills are set up to be automatically paid from my account when they’re due. My debit and credit cards are stored on my phone and easy to use. Apple Pay makes it easy to transfer money directly from person to person.

I have no idea what she’s talking about with the lack of mixer taps. I bought my house 20 years ago, and they came with my house. The same applies to my parents’ house.

College student and disposable dishes can go hand in hand. I don’t think I’ve ever bought disposable dishes. If someone is having a large gathering, it’s likely they’ll have disposable dishes.

Not sure if she is being sheltered or not where she is at, but she is wrong on most points she made in this video. I use direct deposit and pay for all my household bills and those that don't do direct billing I have sent to my house credit card (which gets auto payed each month) so I never handle a single bill or check. I have a top loader washer and will never buy a front one because they have the tendency to mold and stink when the water does not properly and completely drain. A top loader never has this problem. AC is always going to be colder in businesses as they have to make it comfortable to those who are more susceptible to heat and yes they have to preserve the freshness of the foods as they spoil in the heat. I personally never have our AC below 76 in the house. You CAN buy hard liquor in grocery stores and convenient stores in CA. Yes there is a ban on public drinking outside in the USA, but I see that as a benefit, not a detriment. We have recycling containers that all our plastic, glass, paper and aluminum goes into each week, and we have not used store plastic shopping bags for nearly 8 years now. The only time we ever used paper disposable dishes in the house was when we had a water problem and had to turn off the water to the house for repair to the main line. I think she really had to have thought hard and long on some pretty petty reasons to bash living in the US.

Lol! She hasn't seen many "modern American homes" because my house, which is a new build, has the things she's complaining we don't have. The mixer tap, the shower with hose. Same with literally every home I've ever lived in.

I'm in Texas, so it may be different, but here you can buy a removable showerhead attachment for $20-50 at any hardware store.

Many people and companies in the US still use paper checks because the cancelled (cashed) check can be used as a receipt of payment. This is great for tax purposes but also the person you’ve paid can’t lie about getting the money if you have the cancelled check with their signature on it. It’s completely normal to set up direct deposits of paychecks and direct debits for bills though, so I don’t know what she’s talking about there.

1: I’ve never been anywhere in the US where the bathroom didn’t have the detachable shower head. That includes rentals, hotels, and friends/family’s houses.

2. In the US I’ve met a lot of people that use WhatsApp but they are usually people that travel a lot outside the country or have many international friends.

3. Recycling centers are a thing here if you want to take your bottles and cans. They weigh it and pay you. I usually collect them and leave them out for the people that need it so they don’t have to dig for them in the bin.

4. Bread and cheese, just buy it at an actual bakery and smaller stores. Don’t buy at large grocery chains.

5. It’s just easier for people to layer up if they don’t like the cold than to layer down if they really can’t handle heat.

6. Top loaders are cheaper and there are some without the middle bit. It’s a choice thing. We have both.

7. Never felt weird walking after dark, so it’s not an American city thing specifically, but which city. I live in the downtown area of a city but it’s nice out. There have been random incidents with drug addicts but nothing violent. Worst thing here is bad drivers.

8. This one actually sucks. I tried to transfer someone money from the same bank and they tried to charge me 30 dollars so we instead mailed her a check.

9. I don’t really meet any people like this in my area. There are a few people who had concerns about government mandated vaccines mainly because they knew people involved with Tuskegee experiments.

10. Yeah, good food is expensive here.

11. We have both.

12. Never met anyone that uses disposable dishes instead of washing. That only happens with really lazy people and some college students in dorm rooms.

13. Yep, alcohol depends on where you are, down to the specific city.

I can’t even pay a bill without direct deposit or bank transfer online. Some of ‘em will not take my debit card only direct deposit

In the US everything is based on which state you live in. Some states allow hard alcohol in grocery stores, In Virginia we don't have hard liquor, but still sell beer and wine at Grocery stores. We have a separate government department called the Alcohol Bevarage Control which has its own stores that are called "ABC" stores that sells the higher ABV% spirits.

She could go to Walmart and get a handheld shower head. $20, some Teflon tape and elbow grease. I haven’t seen a non hand held in 10 years that hasn’t been swapped over by person living there

I live in a suburb of Cincinnati. I do not feel unsafe hardly ever. There are certain neighborhoods that are rougher.
In 2021 there were 20, 958 people murdered by people with guns in the entire US.
We have a population of 334, 747, 450.

That means only .00626% of the population is murdered using guns a year.

It isn't really that big of an issue.
It's just always a news story.

That "European Elitist" attitude we all know really came out strong this video of hers haha

You can buy alcohol in Texas. You can buy beer everywhere. Alcohol you can buy in grocery stores and liquor stores.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong……I’m halfway through. I’d just call her sheltered. You’re in the bellybutton of America

This girl just comes off as very ignorant.
1: Good bread and dairy exists in every grocery store. Yes, the cheap processed stuff exists too. But there are always better options if that's what you prefer.
2: Every hardware store in America sells a shower hose attachment. It takes 2 minutes to install.
3: We also take our cans back for a deposit directly to the store, not to a recycling center.
4: If you don't feel safe, then move out of the Ohio ghettos. I visit Chicago, Detroit, and Cincy every year, and Cincy isn't much better than the others. I honestly don't feel unsafe in any of them. Show respect and don't mess around in neighborhoods you're unfamiliar with, and you'll be fine.
5: AC in the summer is most often set to around 70 degrees, which is room temp. It feels cold compared to the outside temp, but it isn't. Also, you can't get sick from AC. Spare me the podcast link trying to convince me of that anti-scientific nonsense lol.

We do have mixer taps. Again, she lives in backwards Cincinnati. In old houses you may find two valves but one tap or faucet.

Am I the only one scratching my head? Most Americans never never leave North America, so imessage and GroupMe just is fine. If you want good bread, go to a Bakery. I literally never see guns unless its with an officer in the city or the occasional people loading their car for a hunting trip (rare). What is she talking about?
