Hollywood started out in the 1920s with movies not television.

Hollywood movies were viewed exclusively in movie theatres (cinemas) before the invention of television.

Hollywood was first Established in 1853. The first monochrome silent film that it produced was in 1908, The Count of Monte Cristo. Hollywood had theaters before the first TV was actually made.

The first monochrome TV was made in 1927.

The first Color TV was made in 1953, despite the technology for color display being available circa 1944.

Color TVs didn’t start outselling monochrome TVs until the ‘70s.

My dad just missed Vietnam because his draft card was pulled for the lunar landing day. It was made a holiday, so the draft office was closed. His draft number went back into the draft pool. By the end time it was pulled again, he was able to get an academic exemption. He didn’t avoid service as he went into the Air Force once he finished college.

it was a dangerous trip for many reasons. the main reasons were: It was a vast stretch of wilderness filled with wild animals, many of which were predators. There were a lot of native americans that were pretty angry during this period and weren't exactly friendly to people heading west. The trip west took people through the Rocky Mountains, and there were always some people lost while attempting get through the mountains from starvation, freezing temperatures, dangerous terrain, etc...

The Dutch were also colonizers. They were the first to colonize parts of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware. New York City was first known as New Amsterdam. They lost their colonies to the English in 1664.

The first movie made in Hollywood was in 1908. Ever been to a movie theater? People didn't start to get televisions until the 1940s, but movies were out in theaters long before then. The first color TV was developed in 1953. I remember that my uncle got one in the mid-1960s. We went over to his house to watch Saturday morning cartoons in COLOR! In 1969, I was 12 years old as I watched the first moon landing. Amazing time.

There were no paved roads between the East (Ohio etc., ) and Oregon so the distance had to be traversed in wooden Conestoga wagons, rawn by oxen or horses. There were a few trading posts along the way but these could by no means supply the settlers coming across, so success depended on having a reliable guide, adequate supplies and good weather. If anything went wrong, if you started late, you could end up like the Donner party. Not surprisingly, a major cause of death on the Oregon trail was dysentary from contaminated water.

Your shock about the age of hollywood & the huge presence of the KKK is so funny to me as a black person who lives in Georgia, probably 30 min from Stone Mountain, which is the site of the Klan revival in the 1920's that came about partly due to the influence of the hollywood film "Birth of a Nation." The history of America is one fraught with the coexistence of unimaginable savagery and unprecedented greatness.

There is about 326 Indian reservations today in America but there's many thousands of more tribes that's not federally recognized. We barely make up 3% of America's population over all

Some corrections/Additions
1. The Louisiana Purchase was suuuper cheap. $15 million. This was the Louisiana TERRITORY. It was not a state at that point. Eventually states would form out of that territory and ONE state would be named Louisiana.
2. The Mexican-American War resulted in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in which America got California, AZ, NM, parts of other states etc.
3. Yes the land route was very dangerous pre-railroads as yit would take months via covered wagon with limited access to game, water etc.
4. Slavery was abolished in 1863 via the Emancipation Proclamation by Lincoln and then Constitutionally banned via the 13th amendment right after the Civil War.
4. The strikes and poor working conditions will grow in the first 10-20 yrs of the 1900s labor laws (not before many suffered and even died as a result) began being passed.
5. Shipping on barges is and was cheaper, able to ship higher quantities etc. We STILL heavily rely on shipping. Think about where some major conflicts surround... Suez Canal for ex in the Middle East. Major war will interrupt or endanger shipping lanes causing supply chain shortages/expense/higher cost.
6. Regarding World War 1, Watch the Oversimplified on WWI... more to it than that.
7. Hollywood: silent movie era was 1890s-1930s but sound came in early 1920s. By 1920s/30s the radio and radio entertainment was big.
8. In regards to the KKK membership you asked the populations. 1930 census put the USA just around 125 million ppl.
9. First MAN in space was Russia. First man on the moon was American (America felt the need to catch up).
10. Cuba is NOT part of America. It is its own country, Communist, poverty-stricken and many Cubans try to escape to America fir freedom and Free Markets (generally Cuban-Americans are conservative/Republican.
11. Puerto Rico is an American territory (not a state) as are US Virgin Islands, American Samoa
Guam, Mariana Islands etc.
12. Russia invading Ukraine IS believed to be Putin Wanting to revive the USSR. Moldova is likely next.
13. America has tons of oil but a lot isn't just a pool, it has to be mined or fracked from shale rock and refined a different Way than other kinds of oil. This is why Biden slowed down oil drilling/fracking at home (environmental and electric cars being one reason why) but Trump's policy is to mine it to bring prices down.

The very first television broadcast was made in 1927 out of Schenectady, NY to an audience of four televisions being used by General Electric executives. These televisions had a screen size of only 1.5 square inches. I went to school in Schenectady, NY almost adjacent to this broadcast site. My favorite professor lived across the street from the broadcast site and would often host students at his home for home cooked meals prepared by his wife of Italian descent.
