Whether it's the "machine" from 1982's Brainstorm or the far more portable version seen in 1995's Strange Days...
the neural recorder would be incredible! Both movies showed the dark side of such a device, but imagine "living" the experiences of an astronaut, a person hang gliding from the summit of K2, or surfing a 50' wave and catching the perfect tube every time. Hard to believe this didn't even get an honorable mention.

exoskeletons similar to those in Elysium are actually being developed. They look almost the same except for some details. No neural connection in the real ones and a huge battery pack. Lockheed Martin is working on military ones.
