Calendula Salve for your skin! #short #shorts #calendula

This is one of the many reasons why I grow calendula flowers in my garden which is not only an incredible companion plant but also full of medicinal properties!

This is one of the best ways to store and use calendula flowers from your past season!

Calendula is well known as a medicinal flower due to the soothing effects on skin, wounds, sore muscles, insects bites and much more!

I mix it with Bees wax sourced locally from @pearlyqueen which helps to keep your skin hydrated and sloughing away dead skin cells.

RECIPE:

- infuse your favourite oil with calendula for one month (I used cold pressed Moroccan argan oil).
- Local Bees wax from @pearlyqueen which I had to extract and filter but you can also buy it premade, organic.

In the top part of a double boiler, add 1 cup of your calendula oil and roughly 200g or bees wax. You can also add any essential oil but I prefer to keep it as natural as possible.

Add water to the bottom section of the double boiler so you can melt but not burn the mixture.

While still hot, carefully pour the mix in your containers and leave it to cool down until completely cold.

Apply a thin layer to your skin and enjoy the benefits of this incredible skin salve

I would melt the wax first then add your oil so it is not heated as much and you retain the healing properties more.

My grandma used to make calendula ointment. The best for bruises, rashes and burns! I miss her and her crafts

Just a heads-up people: even though calendula has amazing skin healing properties - the flower doesn't smell that great.
So don't think, if you buy a calendula product that it has gone bad.
That is just the normal smell. 🤗

Is it fair being vegan and using beeswax?
I'm vegan since 2007 and recently discovered a "vegan community", short story: I was convicted for making my own lip balm based on beeswax and wearing clothes that contain nylon in their composition.
