How to set up a flag pole (Wido 17ft Commercial Aluminium Flag Pole)

How to set up a flagpole kit step by step. The one used in this video is a Wido flagpole kit, but they are all much the same to set up. The instructions that came with it are not much use if you haven’t done it before. There are some extra tips on how to finish the rope (halyard) with a double fisherman’s bend, how to fold the flag, how to tie cleat hitch, which way is up on a Union Jack, and in our case, we attached it to a fence for our Scouts. The Wido flagpole kit is OK. The aluminium tube is quite thin-walled. There are others available (at a lower price I might add) that appear better just from the description (they have thicker aluminium pipe). I couldn’t give the Wido flagpole kit a fair evaluation as I have nothing to compare it to. I’ve only ever made my own wooden flagpoles. I think its thin-walled tubing will literally be its downfall. Especially if you fly your flag in high winds. I would recommend a thicker pipe. There is link to such below along with the Wido flagpole kit.
