Some vocals are part of some songs in the vid, but still qualify as an "instrumental" according to Wikipedia, for those that are wondering about that when watching this. Link in the description for the list of songs in this video that qualified.

The quality of that last track compared to the previous ones says it all about modern music 😂

If you were able to go back in earlier years there would be an even larger number of number ones. Fifties like Tequila, Poor People of Paris, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, Canadian Sunset. Many would predate Billboard perhaps but were massively liked. Eg Glenn Miller and In The Mood.

Appreciate that it's all 50s-80s stuff and then skips to Harlem Shake in 2013 and then nothing else for the rest of history...

Not gonna lie, instrumentals are better than most popular modern singers nowadays

Too bad for:
Spanish Flea
Tommy's beginning
Cast your fate to the wind
Herbie Hancock
Beverly Hills Cop
Dueling Banjos was #1

I’m surprised the original Axel F version didn’t reach number one.

I thought maybe Rockit by Herbie Hancock would make it, and also the redone Mission Impossible Theme from maybe '96

That version of Sleep walk being played is re-recorded, it's not the original

Can anyone explain why instrumentals seem to chart better during the '60s and '70s? Majority of this videos are just those decades? In contrast, there's only one in the 21st century (Haarlem Shake, which is obviously the exception of this list) and none in the '90s and 2000s.
