My history teacher gave us a mark 2 ww2 gas mask with the original filter on it and said it was safe ... uuuuhhhh I think I’ve been given lung cancer

It appears that I have screwed my self over because at the beginning of my collecting I had absolutely no knowledge of asbestos filters and I wore a gas mask with filter from 1955

I just bought 4 ww2 gas masks and a babies gas mask at an auction, then discovered the asbestos content.
totally bummed out and a little scared, my grandad died of asbestosis. I now have an irrational fear of asbestos!

I recently bought a GP-7 gas mask and I saw you respond to a lot of questions in the comments, so I wanted to ask you if the filter is safe. It's dated to 2002, and since that is over a decade past the fall of the Soviet Union, I'm somewhat unsure whether that makes it safe or not.

Can you check out Phantom GKD filter? They claim that is A unique filter material allows Ø 88.9% filtration of all particles up to a size of 2μm, such as pollen or liquid particles.

I bought a ABC -74 40mm nato filter for my MP-5 gas mask. It was sealed in a plastic egg like capsule. When I open it with a knife I heard air come out. I can't seem to find a expiration date anywhere. The can is green with a red line on it and on the filter can it says technic air on it. What do you guys think about it

I've bought an old FM12 and it came with a 3M Gas Filter Cartridge FR-64. I opened it up with a knife (I'm sure I made cuts in the particle filter while doing this) and threw it all away. Should I be worried since I did this inside with no protection? Do I need to call someone to check and clean my house?

They make a modern GP-5 without asbestos.

I’m afraid that my gp5 has asbestos inside of it, and it will affect my health. the numbers on the filter are 26-511-2-78. Any help would be appreciated!
