Thank you for this clear description. Can you make one for Melzer's reagent:
40 parts (by weight) H2O, 2 parts KI, 1 part iodine, and 40 parts chloral hydrate.
And, do you know if the iodine in Melzer's is elemental or can be in a tincture?

Hi @ThomasTKtungnung, thanks for the video. If the solution is called 5%, shouldn't the water content be 85 ml and not 100 ml?

How is iodine powder purified?  I saw this in a video entitled (Make iodine from tincture of iodine), but I did not understand it enough and the matter needs more details and about the percentage of purity that can be obtained. This is important because if you can purify it, I don't think there is a need to buy high purity iodine, which can be twice the price of impure iodine!.

To prepare %2 - 100 ML Lugol's iodine...

Formula : M1.V1 = M2.V2

%5.V1 = %2. 100ML ----> V1 = 40 ML ....

40 ML Lugol's iodine 5% +++ fill up to 100 ML ... So, we get Lugol's iodine 2%, am i right ?

there Iodine + potassium Iodide sellers that ships to Singapore (at reasonable USA sellers don't send to Singapore i doubt the safety of Iodine + potassium iodide from if i just use iodine OR potassium iodide alone i absolutely need to combine the 2 items many thanks in advance !
