Can we please stop perpetuating this nonsense about wood affecting tone? That's not how electric guitars work

Cream backs, vintage 30s, DV77s, greenbacks...

The SPEAKER!!!!.so much more important than the wood that your guitar is made of.

I appreciate this comment section acknowledging that the first point he made about tone is completely ridiculous.
Tone is in the speakers / the mic placement of the speakers/ the mic that records the speaker. Even the shape of the cabinet has more impact on guitar tone than “tonewood.”
Also tone isn’t in the hands ; we need to stop saying it is.

Wood does not make any difference to the sound of an electric guitar. Nile Rogers, one of the most famous guitarists of all times (played on almost every famous song) primarily played a guitar made out of acrylic.

Shred Master, I love your content but you just mentioned most elements that have minimum to no influence on tone, except for the one thing that has all the tone: THE SPEAKER or MODELER. Check Glenn Fricker for more info. Sorry for sounding like a know-it-all AHole but the evidence is out there... Keep up the content, I love your channel.

For literally anything high gain this is blatantly not true and is poor information, the breakdown should be:

1) Mics, some mics portray your sound differently, room sound is virtually irrelevant in every scenario since even live you will still have a mic'd amp.
2) Cab, there are a bazillion speakers and cab configs that'll make the most difference to your tone rather than dropping more cash for a "premium" guitar, my general rule of thumb is to go for a more expensive amp, cab, and mic scenario if you want a better sound, and a more expensive guitar if you want a better feel.
3) Amp, the amp itself is far more important than the guitar in the sense that under most circumstances literally nobody can hear the difference between a $500 guitar and a $5000 guitar when recorded using a good amp, good mics, and a good cabinet.
4) Pedals, in my opinion and in my experience pedals just help you get more of your amp, tightening up low end or adding mids for that sorta thrashy djent sound, and pedals like the HM-2 can entirely alter how your guitar sounds. But beyond distortion, fuzz, or overdrive, I can't in good faith recommend any other effect (excluding compressors, eqs, noise gates, drop pedals, and whammy pedals).
5) Guitar, in any high gain scenario the wood an electric guitar is made out of has absolutely 0 effect on the outcome. The only difference the guitar will have is tuning (baritones and extended range guitars) and pick-up sound (EMGs or Fishmans will have the biggest difference). Frankly I think its strange that a metal focused YouTuber like yourself keeps perpetuating garbage that jazz and blues guys use to tell their wives why they NEED a custom shop ES-335.

For High-Gain Metal, the only effect the wood will have is aesthetic.

(also my list is not the order in how much you should spend on your gear)

I recommend everyone to watch Jim Lills video called Tested: Where does the tone in an electronic guitar come from?

I can't bring myself to like this video since it doesn't mention the most important element, the speaker

I'm an audio technician. If you believe wood affects your tone more than your speakers, I'm going to laugh in your face.

wood? maybe makes a small difference, but you could EQ it out easily.

strings? see above.

pickups, your amp/EQ, effects, speakers, and your hands matter the most

I don’t know if I should believe that the wood is important to tone but I am sure that I have enough of hearing that it is

The AMP and speaker makes the biggest difference, alongside the player. After that probably strings and pickups. The rest might make a VERY subtile difference but that's all, most wouldn't be able to tell a difference and even less so with distortion ontop.

Thank god i don't need speakers for great tone

The wood doesn't make a difference

What actually make your tone: pickups (humbucker or single coil), cabinet, EQ, Pedals, and your amp
