This has got to be the best novelization of a Kate Bush song EVER.

I tried to read this about eight years ago, when I was on a quest to edify myself with classics. I got about halfway through and then I just thought they were all assholes and I couldn't take any more.

I'm actually in the middle of reading this book for the first time. So far, I am enjoying it. The prose, the language takes some getting used to for sure, but worth it once you get the hang of it. Nice review!

I read this once. I've been afraid of reading it again because I think I might react like you.

This is going to turn into the Jane Austen channel (I like the Keira Knightly movie Pride and Prejudice).

There's a new film out called 'Emily' which I think is really good. What did you think of Joseph and his rantings? Were they comprehensible to an American?

have you read The Castle by Kafka? now there's a weird one. i got halfway through and felt i was being put on. i want to retry 40 years later.

Everyone in this story is obnoxious and hateful and they throw rocks at each other. It’s great.

Okay. Don’t reread Wuthering Heights. Got it!

I saw the movie with Laurence Olivier maybe 100 times but I never read the book. Maybe I should keep it that way😀

Terrible Review imo view the Bronte vs Austen debate with star Actors reading scenes @ Intelligence Squared before rereading.

I read this in high school years ago, and I hated it. Now that I am older, I will give it another re-read. Maybe it could change my mind.

I hated this book so much when I read it in 2015. I was in my late 20s. I gave it a 2 on goodreads. No way would I reread it. There are so many good books waiting for me!

Loved Jane Eyre, HATED Wuthering Heights. I just don't get its popularity 🤷‍♀️

😎Loving every moment of the up close and candid: when we're young we absolutely hate the classics and the evil wizard tutors who put us through that holy hell; then when we finally become young adults we crave importance and fancy sophistication 🖋️🧐 it is as though Boring😒 😵becomes a synonym for "Bourgeois "😏 then we got old and we cut the bull pile. It has been said that when you're 20 you worry and care what everybody thinks, at 40 you stop giving an £@*# what anybody thinks, you finally come into your own only to arrive at 60 and realize nobody even cared, everyone was buzzy thinking about themselves.😱😤 D@*& ain't life a #B-word! As always

classics are classics ins some sense because not alot of books were written in those times, and we got what we got. now that we have all of this variety, sorry I'm reading the cool shit with aliens and dragons.
