The fact that you managed to give the best summary I've ever heard of the totally chaotic Wuthering Heights and did so in one minute, blew my mind. Keep up the good work, sir!

I really didn’t like this book when I read it but it was my first classic so one day I will give it another go. 😊

Nice video! I've known Katy Bush's Wuthering Heights song for quite some time now, came back to it after years today and came to know more about the story it was based on. Your review was very clear and concise and you definitely convinced me that I should buy the book!

Thanks for the quick review. I was looking for an audiobook to listen to and was considering this but I had no idea what this book was about and if I’d be interested. I’ll definitely be listening to it soon

i'm sorry but to me this will always be first and foremost a brutal love story. yes all of the characters are flawed but so is every other real person. heathcliff's behaviour towards the succeeding generation is not only a revenge, but also an answer to catherine's dying words "Will you forget me? Will you be happy when I am in the earth? Will you say twenty years hence, "That's the grave of Catherine Earnshaw? I loved her long ago, and was wretched to lose her; but it is past. I've loved many others since: my children are dearer to me than she was; and, at death, I shall not rejoice that I are going to her: I shall be sorry that I must leave them!" Will you say so, Heathcliff?'" and also a firm confirmation of his reply "Do you reflect that all those words will be branded in my memory, and eating deeper eternally after you have left me?" as he quite literally spends all the rest of his tormenting days thinking of only her and seeing her everywhere, even in his own being, not losing her memory for a second, not having loved anyone else besides her, not even his own child, and rejoicing at death because he "has nearly attained his heaven", almost twenty years later. yes it is cruel revenge but it is also ultimate act of devotion. and the fact that he softens so much to the point of acting mad when he's closest to death, and the peace they both finally have when they are reunited.... this will always be such a tragically beautiful and brutal love story to me.

*Spoilers ahead*
I just finished it, having embarked upon reading it because I was sure I was going to love it. Did NOT like it at all! There is very little love in this book. There's plenty of passion; but throughout the novel, the characters continually partake of sadistic and masochistic exchanges, ad nauseum. It got to the point where I no longer even believed any of them, or even cared for them. Again and again, characters who were supposedly in love exhibited unwarranted cruelty, driven by self-serving impulses. The hostilty began to feel unrealistic to me; I didn't buy it—not on this level. And the plot is thoroughly convoluted. You start out with young Heathcliff and Catherine in fits of passion, and you end up with a new generation of narcissistic jerks. How in the world, for instance, did Hareton fall for Cathy at the very end, when all she did was disparage him and condescend horrifically? And I did NOT like the ending at all; Heathcliff was still young enough and healthy enough to live on, but all of a sudden he becomes phantomlike (so now we're caught up in something more gothic, all of a sudden), and he diminishes into a ghoul—oh, but it's all due to the fact that he is eternally in love with Catherine, linked to her ghostly soul forever. Come on, get real.
