In this video Jay tears into a stock RB26 that will go through machining and end up getting rebuilt with Brian Crower goodies. While taking the engine apart Jay compares aspects of the RB26 to the Toyota 2JZ, from cooling to oiling systems.

Thank you for watching.

Fred Gibson Motorsport deserves a big shout-out for what they did with the R32 in group A racing here in Australia. Godzilla was born.

Anyone else hop on YouTube just to watch Jay disassemble an engine? Lol.

Also, 11:50 had me in tears.

It's really cool to see your perspective on these engines. Honestly, no one else out there (that I know of) has even bothered to take notice or even mention the small details like the tapered gudgeon pins or the fundamental cooling system design. This attention to detail is one of the reasons i find your videos so great to watch. I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress through this build!

As for the smell, i know the exact smell you're talking about. I wouldn't say its a pleasant smell, but its also kind of satisfying in a weird way? Someone else has mentioned in the comments that you occasionally get a particular sound whilst cracking the bolts loose for the first time that is also oddly satisfying haha.

The cross flow coolant design is very cool. Learnt some good things here thanks for the breakdown and going into details of the design of the RB.

Its refreshing to see someone who primarily dealt with 2jz give the rb26 respect, because guys go "huh duh not a 2j so boo it sucks" but let it be known: toyota never raced a 2jz in a factory race car. Nissan did

I still remember the first engine I took apart, first with the head bolts. Then the mains on a b18. I thought I released the mummy from the awful yet interestingly unique smell it had. 😂😂😂😂

Jay,
I am excited for you and your new venture! Most people would not have the kahunas to exit a successful business to get back to the simpler (Just car stuff) sides of things. Super happy for you dude!

I don't know about the smell on the main bolts, but after removing the rod bolts on my JZ this past week my garage was filled with a burnt smell. I rather liked it. Disappointed I couldn't find a scented candle that matched the aroma.

I run the BC 79 mm stroker in my motor. It’s amazing. DSPORT assembled the motor. It’s been running strong for three years. Can’t recommend this enough.

I absolutely know what you’re talking about, I work for Subaru and I build engines from time to time, we all have tried to think of what that smell is similar to, it’s definitely unique!😂

Jay I've always loved these videos and learn something new Everytime, I've got quite a bit of experience with the VG30DE and would love to see your expertise break down one of them with commentary like this.
