Thank you, sir! This is very helpul video, because I was trying to identify my dad's old Praktica's lenses to use with an Nikon D5000 using an adaptater, because almost fit and (I think) will not damage the Nikon.

the canon FD mount you show is technically a Breach mount (ring that fastened the lens to the mount), the "Bayonet" followed, without the ring allowing the entire lens to turn into the camera mount.

So let me get this straight... Canon lens( for a dslr/slr) have the gold colored plates( the group of 5 smaller ones and then a bigger one) and a Nikon doesn't have that but they have the silver colored metal pins which are not parallel with the lens like the canon mount is but are perpendicular with the lens, correct???

I just bought two vintage lenses on eBay, both which claimed to be FD mount so I went and ordered a FD mount adapter only to have it fit neither lens. Also, what is the Canon AE-1 mount? One seller said you can use a FD adapter on a AE-1 mount lens to fit on a Canon EF/EF-S camera?

Hello, I'm looking at a Sigma minolta lens, which the seller says has an inner diameter of 38mm. Is this possible? Should I assume it has an adapter already on it? What mount/adapter could it be at 38mm?
