Saw him with John Mclaughlin/shakti the summer before he passed. They were spellbinding. Each player held the entire audience entranced through multiple musical climaxes.

It’s still hard to believe that he’s gone. He was an absolute legend and there will never be another tabla maestro like him ever again. He was an icon to millions of tabla players including me and it’s such a hard loss for the Indian music community.
