She was turned into a "Pillar of Salt" not a dusting of salt. According to Mirriam Webster's Dictionary, A pillar is a solid upright solid mass. It is possible for Lot's wife to have solidified with the ground she was standing on. Over the centuries, the ground receded causing Lot's Wife to appear taller.
