"No man who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is worthy of the kingdom." Lots wife HEART was in Sodom. She was disobedient and by looking back, she was seemingly desiring for the place she was told to leave and God didn't want her to LOOK back on the thing her heart was pulling on her to meditate on. This is my theory and always thought about this.

I understand why people come to the conclusion that Lot's wife was changed into a pillar of salt. My suggestion is that God did not supernaturally turn Lot's wife into a pillar of salt as a form of punishment.
In Genesis 19, the angels say two times in verses 15 and 17, that if Lot and his family were to flee the city, or else they would be "swept away" (other translations say consumed) in it's destruction. It appears that the warning is so that Lot and his family will not be "collateral damage" as a result of the judgement on the city. That would be more consistent with the text than to say Lot's wife was punished for disobeying.
The angels say nothing about God punishing them for looking back.
As far as Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt, one thing that comes to mind are the victims of Pompeii. It could be that because there was alot of salt in the region, the extreme heat from the falling brimstone and fire sent a blast of molten earth including salt, covering Lot's wife (Mount Sodom in Israel is *80%* salt).
Remember the whole point of God's warning through the angels is for the protection of Lot and his family. As if God is a blood thirsty legalist.
