New Era Football hats have cardboard lids & go soft if soaked… You can only go maximum about a minute then dry before losing the firmness of that lid. I usually start my cleaning with just an IKEA lint roller which works great for lint, dust, animal hair & dirt. Anything still on there can be spot washed with weak soap & water with a rag & in an hour your like brand new!

this is a proper tutorial. to the point. by the way, I have had my favorite cap for 20+ years, ZERO wash ;-)

Don't use washing up liquid as this suggests, it's discoloured my polo cap (well made brand) to the point I don't want to wear it anymore....

some people put it in the dishwasher .I dont know about putting my sweaty bacteria filled hat in the same place as dishes that I eat off lol
