I picked up the 2018 base iPad for school in may 2019 and I have not been more impressed. Even though it lacks the Smart Keyboard support it paired seamlessly with a third party keyboard case for a fraction of the price. There really is no reason for anyone to spend the extra money on the 2019 iPad, with my iPhone the handoff features make productivity a dream. But then we are getting into the ecosystem and that’s a whole other animal.

Bought the Fire HD 10 two weeks ago after my Sony Experia Z tablet croaked. So far I'm pleasantly surprised how good it is. Loaded Google play store for more games. I use it mostly for You Tube and Amazon music with Bluetooth speakers. A good affordable tablet, so far excellent.

Once I installed the play store and added a sdcard, the iPad lost. Fire tab rulls!!

How is the video calling on this tablet? more specific can the other person see your face on screen or is it dark and invisible? how does video calling compare to Samsung tab a or an ipad 10.2?

Amazon has been making some good tablets lately. the kompanio 500 chipset in this makes the device so much more faster than usual

I dropped my fire hd 10 like 11 times and it still doesn’t have a cracked screen while the iPad breaks like in one drop and a lot of things you said are things you could do with a fire hd 10

I know there is no comparison but I want it mostly to read. Maybe for movies Ipad would be better but... it's just the difference in price between both is so big :( I may end up going for the Amazon one... all my products are apple but apple company has become so greedy with time, to a point I consider their prices are abusive. Some of their prices are just ridiculous.

I do not see a big difference between the two. One is affordable and capable. The other is full of service selling money pits. I just spent a week with my tablet off. I wanted to see if I can stand it. Turns out I do not need one.
