Technically Gon is just back to square 1 in a state before he learned nen. I imagine he'd have to retrain to get his abilities back or even get new ones. I feel like Gon and Killua's story hasn't ended yet, Gin taking a trip to the DC kinda means that Gon would have to do so as a challenge and Nanika having a connection to the DC would mean Killua has to get involved too.

i recall reading a chapter where it somewhat said that there are GATEKEEPERS in the dark continent and they MAKE the people who manage to survive to BRING with them one calamity to REMIND them not to come back to the dark continent..

The Hunter association is an absurd concept when you take a few steps back.
It makes a lot more sense when you think of Calamities and the Dark continent, perhaps the hunter exam and the lifestyle is a system put in place to select the ones strong enough to survive on that Dark continent

I wonder if the real reason aura users are so rare despite the numerous ways it can be obtained and is openly used is because aura users throughout the recent history were recruited and possibly illegally trafficked for the expeditions and died.
What if the hunter association was originally created for the purpose of gathering talented Aura users for an eventual expedition?
