As a Steelers fan I do remember this incident. It wasn't well explained at the time. It's nice to learn about it now.

Thank you for covering this I have Sickle Cell Anemia and its always hard for me to explain to people what it is and how it affects me, but your video does a great job of explaining it to people so now all i have to do is show them this

There's a very specific reason in the military we give people with SCT red dog tags. And they MUST be visible during humps, ITs, PT sessions, etc. I was a Corpsman (Navy/Marine medic) and that was the first thing I searched for during physical fitness tests. It is NO joke when they sickle, cause thrombus/emboli and then suddenly you have a guy with non-functioning kidneys or worse, a PE.

Fun fact: Sickle cell disease is most common in people of African descent because sickle cell trait is manageable, and it provides some protection against malaria infections. That's why it hasn't been naturally selected out, and because of modern medicine being able to help people when they're in sickle crisis.

Thanks for the video.

I live at 6900 feet now, and I'm okay. When I first moved from sea level to 5300 feet, I needed about a year to adjust.

I have thalassemia and thankfully never really had issues. I think it does effect me not having a ton of energy or getting tired sometimes but idk. Used to take Folic acid as a kid and when I’d travel to Mexico I felt the thin air for a while but I wasn’t running or anything just walking.

Thank you for this video. I found out I had the sickle cell trait when I tried to give blood in high school. I was, and still am, scared to go to places in high altitude because of Ryan Clark’s medical crisis.

As usual so much great information. I had heard of Sickle Cell but never really understood the dynamics of it. Great informative video.

Jordan Love suffered a leg injury in tonight's game

I have thalassemia trait which seems significantly less dangerous than sickle cell trait. Never even needed iron supplements or knew I had it. It's important that people know about the distribution of certain diseases among different ethnicities, such as sickle cell in people of African heritage and thalassemia in Mediterranean peoples.

Not a big deal but that picture was of the old “Mile High “ . We opened a new one in 2001. Love the info and explanation on all injuries that you cover.

My son (and myself) have sickle cell trait. He actually had an issue his sophomore year of high school as he started getting blood in his kidneys after extraneous exercise in the heat

Would love to see a video on the Ricky Pearsall gun shot situation and prognosis. Not a sports injury I realize so maybe that's why you're not covering it?

apparently a college player died during practice in this year who had that same trait . he was doing intense physio and collapsed and died . wonder if something similar happened or if it was from heat illness .
