I had a miscarriage in 2017. I didn't brush or wash my hair for 4 months, I just used dry shampoo and tied it up. I admitted it to my mum one day, and she just sat me down on the floor in front of her and spent 2 hours sorting it, without passing comment. We need more people like you and my mum xx

You know what this is called? Being a trauma informed hair stylist. The compassion and patience you showed is consistent with trauma informed therapist. You should add that to your marketing and highlight it. Your expertise is not only servicing people who may live with depression, but also survivors of abuse too. So happy to see this!

It takes a lot of courage to admit that you need help. She went out and asked for help. That makes her a badass.

Years ago I worked at a physical rehab hospital. A little 8 year old girl that had been in a bad car accident had long hair and after a month in the hospital it was one big rat's nest on the back of her head. Her aunt spent about 6 hours and a couple of bottles of detangling spray to get it out and her niece immediately started to engage in therapy better and just overall improved. All of the staff gave the aunt compliments and some of us chipped in for her to have a spa day.

Been there. When you’re depressed, EVERYTHING is a task. Even getting out of bed. So imagine what a task detangling hair is.

*I don’t know who you are, or why YouTube took this long to recommend your content to me, but boy am I glad to be here to stay!*

When you’re depressed, getting out of bed is a major chore let alone, self care. It takes a lot of work to crawl out of a deep depression hole.

So happy for her. Depression makes the “simplest” things so impossible

Thank you for this. My mom died in December. I went to my stylist in January because I could not mentally deal with my hair. She detangled and deep conditioned me with nothing but kindness. I didn't tell her what happened, but she said, whatever you are going through, just know I'm praying for you and you will be alright." She have me an air hug and I left feeling human again just for a little bit.

Kindness first. Always.

Wen u depressed the weight is a heavy burden, everything feels like a chore. The easiest thing to neglect is yourself.

This video just shows the difference between a stylist that does the craft for the people vs a stylist that does it for the money. She looked amazing and left happy which is the best.

Love what you said about not judging people because you don't know what they're going through. We need more people like you in this world

when i was 12 i was homeless living in a truck w my dad and little brother and had no comb or even shampoo for almost a month. when i was sent to foster care (a white family who didnt know how to maintain black hair) they took me to a hairdresser who made fun of me the whole time she was cutting the big dreadlock out of my hair. it was a horrible experience, im glad theres ppl like you who dont judge and make someone feel bad for their hair, bc as you said you never know what someone is dealing w in their life

My friend had depression for years, with no support system at home. Her hair also got completely entangled at one point. So she went to hair stylist and she criticized her badly and also chopped her hair short. Then she lost her father...and then few months later she took her own life. Please, please don't judge.

I got misty-eyed when you said, “She’s going to be fine, she’s going to be just fine.” Thank you for being understanding to those suffering in silence. People like you make this world a better place.

As someone who has struggled with depression, you have no idea how big of a difference you're making in her life and her road to recovery. Sometimes simple displays of empathy can mean the world.

I left my abusive ex-husband and one of his forms of abuse was complete control of my appearance. When I left him, I did nothing about my appearance, including showering, brushing my hair, anything, for several months. Eventually my friend convinced me to find a stylist to help and as she was helping me for 3 hours, I cried like a baby. It was one of the most healing experiences of my life and I will forever be grateful to my stylist who also became my friend that day. Thank you for helping this gorgeous woman and showing how much compassion you give.

I didn't understand why this was recommended to me, but now I get it. You are not a hairdresser, you are a HAIR CARER who helps people who have stopped caring for themselves. God bless.
