August 2024 Monthly Wrap-Up-
Every month I compile hours upon hours of shark footage. Most of that footage doesn’t make the final edit and just sits on my hard drive. But I still capture interesting things that I want to share with you at the end of every month.

In this episode, I update you on August activity. The big great white sharks are still around, and I demonstrate how effective their countershading can be. Unfortunately, some bad apples are targeting and killing white sharks on Southern California beaches.

If anyone knows the identity of this "fisherman" or any other information, report it to the CDFW. This is illegal and can land them in jail for up to a year.

Those sharks are so extremely important ..people just do not understand how important they are to the ocean and to life.

this is outragious ! I am so glad you do not share any locations anymore :) That is actually the reason I am so glad there is no knowledge out there about the mating and birthing grounds of the GW bc I am sure some shark haters or people who want to simply exploit that for their own gain might take advantage of that crucial information and endanger this species even more.

This makes me very sad. I’m 73 and when I was young living on the Gulf Coast the locals would go out armed with booze, shotguns and dynamite to kill sharks. Some of the bodies would was up on the beach, many juveniles. I would cry hysterically and my father, who loved all living things would go white lipped with anger. So glad you are not giving out the locations of these beautiful creatures.

Love that you advocate for sharks and refuse to give up locations. You’ve got some amazing places to go to!

I've been in the water scuba diving with hammerheads and a tiger shark. Accidentally, I assure you. The hammerheads were smaller and swimming in a group of 3 or 4 and I touched the tip of one's pectoral fin. Even at 4-5 feet that dorsal is high up there.
I was doing some graduate work down on St. Maarten when my dive buddy got my attention and pointed at a tiger shark swimming almost directly at us. My buddy was very slowly backing giving it more room but I froze. That shark passed me just about arm's length.
It seemed like it took 10 minutes for that body to get past me. Growing up in Tennessee we would have said, "That girl right there, was a good 'un." It was _at least_ twice my 6'4". I got a GOOD look at it UP CLOSE. That shark never seemed to pay any attention to me at all. I'll never forget it.
Edit: I forgot to add I laugh about now but I think whales for miles around could hear my heartbeat. Remember, I froze. lol

All I can say is I totally agree and hope that you continue to NEVER share those locations, it only takes a few nutzos to ruin the entire thing for the sharks and people. But isn't that how it is with a lot of things in our world.

There are shark anglers who are killing great whites as a sport where I reside in So Cal… the way they discard the bodies on the beach is disgusting and disrespectful to mother nature. I wish I can collaborate with you to inform local authorities with this problem.

With Great White fishing being illegal in so many places, if you know of the person and their bragging, if they are in violation of law then report them.

Since I have started watching your videos, I have learned a lot about these sharks and have found the drone footage to be incredible.

Wow. It makes me sick that people would use your content to take these sharks lives. Thank you for doing what you can to help them ❤

Another great video. Yes, please keep your filming locations confidential. Now if we can just remove the plastics floating around the oceans that are killing marine life. The great pacific trash dump is reported to be three times the size of California. As a SCUBA diver it's disgusting to see the amount of trash and pollution in the water. If we destroy our oceans, we destroy ourselves.

Thanks for continuing to provide great footage and analysis, much appreciated! Btw, I used to live on Malibu Road and surfed, paddle boarded or swam in the area between Sunset and County Line nearly everyday for five years and never saw a single Great White, but based on your coverage, I’m sure there were plenty of times that they saw me!

Honestly Jaws, (and subsequently, the copycat movies)did so much harm to sharks. I was a kid living in florida near the coast, when that first movie came out. In the 8th grade in my honors class I did an in depth year long research report about sharks to try to counter that nonsense. Teacher kept it to demonstrate to future students how to do a research paper and to add to the Marine Biology class notes on sharks. I have no idea why I didn't continue in marine biology studies, maybe it was the having to dissect sentient sea life.
I AM against fishing and feel no qualms what so ever in stating so.

thank you sir for prioritizing wildlife conservation and safety.. your content reminds me of what discovery and national geographic produced 20 or 30 years ago... meaning scientific, conservation aimed, etc.. as opposed to now ..
