As a nurse- please look on the label of the med before deciding to take meds out of the fridge. Especially prescription antibiotics. Some MUST be refrigerated.

I agree with all of these. A good hint is store your groceries the way they are stored in the grocery store. You’ll never see fresh onions, garlic, tomatoes or potatoes in the refrigerator aisle.

All this is depending on your outside environment, find out what the conditions they need to last and just try your best to replicate it. For example, its hot and humid as hell where i am, leaving tomatoes out (or most things really) to theyre gone. Leaving them in a low humidity crisper in the fridge is exactly what i need for their longevity. Putting em on a random shelf though, different story😅 they stink to clean up. But if youre in a dry cold environment, or house has aircon, or dry and hot, all these are different environments where youll need to adjust accordingly

If you leave tomatoes out of the refrigerator during summer here in Australia, you will be lucky to get 2 days out of them. I'm keeping mine in the fridge.

Great info! You did miss an important aspect for the tomato though -- not only does refrigeration affect the texture, but there's a key set of flavorful chemicals (I forget the details, learned this as a kid from Good Eats! 😊) which just STOP being produced/released completely once the tomatoes go below a certain temperature, and you can't turn them back on. Once they go in the fridge, their aroma is ruined, never to return! Unfortunately oftentimes grocery store tomatoes are shipped in refrigerated trucks before you even get to them 😕

Pharm tech here!

Some medicines (especially antibiotic dry syrup) are reconstituted, meaning the bottle only contains powdered ones and it needs to be added water to the glass bottle before taking (see instruction on the package– usually we pharm techs are the one doing it for you)
Water is the place where microbes love to grow, so putting it on the fridge is actually slowing down the growth and enhancing the shelf life up to a week.

Unless stated, always check the labels for storage and ask for your local pharmacy for more info 😁👍

Correction: there is actually less moisture in the refridgerator than the outer environment (generally). It's actually cooler than the room so the moisture condenses on the food when you take it out.

I like to put the onion in the fridge the night before I plan to use it. It is the only way it won't make me cry when I chop it.

Most medicines dont need to be stored in the fridge! However, keep in mind that SOME DO!!! this includes insulin. Your healthcare provider/pharmaceutical company should let you know the storage instructions for your medicine, just its best to ask just in case!

Replace the batteries in your fire alarm please 😅

I agree with you on all of these. The only exception I have is onions and it's only when I don't use a whole onion and i put the remainder in the fridge to be used the next time, usually within 1 or 2 days.

You are correct and thank you for informing everybody that needs to learn this.
Love your personality and videos 😀

Bonus tip: don't store potatoes and onions near each other! Ideally, pop them each in a paper bag, separate from one another. Compounds in the onions cause potatoes to sprout more quickly.

for the medicine, you should check the packaging or bottle for the storage conditions. some medicines are stored in the fridge and some are in room temp. this is coming from a pharmacist.

A chef I worked for at 17 told me the best to know what goes in the fridge (produce wise) is when you go shopping, if you bought it in the cooler it can go in the fridge and if its not than is doesn't.
