I have missed KCon for the last few years due to scheduling conflicts, so this year I decided to make it a priority. Now as a veteran of the internet and stan culture I know the one true rule: don't mess with the Kpop fans. But we persevere! So let's talk about security, constant random screaming, camping out, and all the Kpop.

i dont think you need to worry too much about stans being mad at you because if kpoppies love one thing its tearing apart these conventions for how godawful they are organized and handled

As a kpop and swell girly, i can promise you kpop fans are 10000% in favor of calling out shit cons/festival/etc. Theres been a bunch of awful concert organizers the past couple years. Its one of the few things that bring the different fandoms together LOL

nah kpop fans LOVE shitting on things that aren't the group themselves, like everyone hates the management company, the event organizers, the stylists (only sometimes tho), etc 😭😭

I'm crying at the disclaimer 😭😭 honestly most kpop fans agree that these conventions can be a mess, so no worries

I think the heavy breathing/hot mic is def a kcon thing, I think a lot of the refinement pieces that an artist would get at their own concert with their own team are often missed at larger events like this

Girl, I love you so I want you to ask your doctor to check your gallbladder. I just went through this and it can take a while to get through the medical bs but (if it’s your gallbladder) it doesn’t get better, it’s not something you can manage, you can’t “heal” it. It just needs to come out. I had years of “stomach issues” unnecessarily because no one checked my gb.

for the merch critique I do have to say that’s kinda just how kpop is. despite how money hungry these companies are most of them are actually really bad about making and selling merch. typically (unless you’re from sm or hybe) even at a concert all you’ll get is a photocard set and t shirt maybe a hoodie, lightstick (if the group has one) and even then they’re usually very basic minimal designs as well. surprisingly most companies haven’t really chosen to capitalize on merch in general outside of albums and photocards.

From what I've heard from people who usually go to Kcon every year that this year was WAY more expensive than the others. So much so that some said they weren't going to bother this year. Also, this year there weren't any real big acts that they can normally get because every big group is having their own tour right now.

22:23 YES please people wear ear protection, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE NEAR THE SPEAKERS. once your hearing's gone, it's gone. it's very debilitating and people will yell at you and talk down on you like you're a child. you will miss a lot in the music you will listen to like you're underwater. it's really sad. i was always the loser with plugs but it was so, so worth it when i see the teenagers i teach lament how they have a hard time hearing their old music now.

noise cancelling, volume down, plugs.

The breathing: this is maybe because recently there were a lot of discussion about live and prerecorded vocals in kpop in general, so maybe that was one of these "we will kot get lipsync alligations we prove we sing live"😂

kcon has always been contentious you're safe. shitting on kcon is a common theme among kpoppies

19:50 some performers just prefer a handheld. you'll see a lot of groups with a good mix of handheld and headset mics

and for the heavy breathing thing, the staff are usually better about cutting the mics or lowering the gain to make it harder to hear the heavy breathing lol

28:00 the idols usually aren't allowed to alter their outfits in any way. when the stylist has it on them, it's on them

sometimes certain members (main vocalists typically) will get handheld mics so they can control the distance from the mic when they hit high notes!
